modeled largely after his voice actor’s line of work, grendel is an independently run and published musical prodigy turned protege when adopted into the teachings of an older, wiser star who notices his talent & wants to goad him into being everything he’s worth.
grendel’s a bass player and a vocalist specializing in funk, blues, and classic rock. many of his songs, similar to his VA’s song ceasefire and black wolf, refer directly to his identity and inspire political commentary. he writes his own lyrics, most of the time, and it’s always got a message to it. he does Not perform without a message.
started off playing for change in the dumpy bars he frequented during his worst days as an alkie, and now he’s off touring vegas, sharing his tour bus with his biggest fans and filming music videos half-naked in the alps. he’s all over, too old not to be charismatic, got contacts all over the world that’d come crawling to him at the drop of a hat -- despite the fact that his manager is a crotchety, overprotective old woman with a penchant for disallowing gren to get too big for his britches.
he may be a rocker in a nice leather coat, arrogant when the men behind the cameras call for it and theatrical as ever, but he remains humble and good-hearted, refusing to see himself as Above or Below the common man.
grendel does Not monetize the work he does for social justice causes, and when he does profit off of those pieces, he donates massive amounts of it to programs dedicated to making education accessible for poor innercity folk.
he’s known for playing the bass one-handed, and for being one of the most prominent disabled musicians in the business.
does lots of photoshoots. usually gets in trouble for shooting up before shows and falling offstage.
