One of my friends sent a very strange discord message consisting only of random letters, much like I would expect a "cat walking on keyboard" would produce. This friend has no cat, I assume she was just severely sleep deprived or fell asleep on her keyboard or something, but that doesn't really matter. The point is I saw the message and went "holy shit that looks like a protein sequence". So I immediately went to BLAST and ran tblastn and blastp in hopes of finding something, but had no luck. Of course, even if I had found something, I would not know what the protein structure of this message would look like anyway. The sequence is as follows (page breaks and non-coding letters removed:)

okay well that's not what i expected! we've got some very long helices, with high confidence scores. i assume that these residues correspond to ones typically found a lot in helices, and the software just didn't know enough to think about how long a helix tends to be. i mean there are some proteins with long alpha helices, but this is a lot. it looks neat though
