I’ve been reading the Star Wars Legends Comic “Agent of the Empire - Iron Eclipse” and I noticed a really cool and obscure easter egg in one of the last pages! Among the Droid Crowd appears to be PROTO-1, a character who originated in the fourth Episode, “a race to the finish”, of 1986′s Star Wars: Droids cartoon series, being voiced by Long John Baldry.
I looked it up and it appears I’m actually the first person to ever find this easter egg! Makes you wonder how many other secrets have been hidden in comics that have yet to be revealed...
This is Proto-1, the last surviving DeLorean prototype. The mother of all DeLoreans. You can see a lot changed on the car between this prototype and the final product. The interior and engine stand out as the most drastic changes. The prototype has a 4 cylinder and brown leather interior. Yes, the drum in the steering wheel has an airbag. The original plan was for all DeLoreans to have airbags standard. I'm glad the engine cover on the final car does not open that direction. The man in the poster worked at DMC Houston. I never personally interacted with him but in the DMC community he was very highly regarded.
Happy Father's Day.
