Some of Wynn’s canonical pets and mount doodles. Short version is a magically shrunken proto-drake named Knopka (which means ‘button’ in Russian), a ironbound proto-drake Irah (Eye-rah) and frostwolf names Ghost (in reference to GoT, yes) Very lengthy rant about each under the cut, but otherwise, enjoy the silly doodles:
Knopka is a magically shrunken (pygmy oil or something of the sort) proto-drake, that Wynn found in a mage’s lab he was raiding in his younger days, while in a bandit gang. He scooped her up along with whatever he was actually there for, and tried to release her later on, but she just flapped right back to him and never left. A faithful companion on all of his adventures, as of BfA she has retired to being a glorified house cat, putting the actual house cat to shame with her mouse catching. However, she has a horrible habit of scorching the floors, to annoyance of Astrid.
Irah (pronounced Eye-rah) is an ironbound proto-drake, Wynn bumped into in Ulduar. She was injured and he hid the protesting and hissy dragon from his party mates so they wouldn’t come and finish her off, letting her recover on her own. Once she did, she flew out and found Wynn, being his faithful mount ever since. She is largely free roaming gal, and Wynn summons her with a whistle when he needs her. Favorite pass time is to roam Elwyn Forest fields eating occasional bandits and pumpkins. She also doubles as Fred’s mount on occasion, at least until he finds his own.
Ghost is a frostwolf, Wynn bumps into in Draenor. This was shortly after him and Fred rekindled their relationship, (I shall rant about that one some other time I promise). Wynn originally had a wolf named Timber, that was killed by his gang as an intimidation tactic, which ultimately failed to work as Wynn left anyways, and ever since he didn’t want to have another pet, resorting to the lone wolf hunter spec. While out on a errand, Wynn notices someone watching him, and it doesn’t help his paranoia at the time. One time he sits down for a lunch, and the feeling just won't go away but this time it's closer. He hears a snap of a twig behind him, and swifts his polearm, and sees a white wolf flatten to the ground to dodge that. Wolf is like...not a baby, but not an adult yet? Those teenage years, she's like....7-9 months old? sorta thing. Wynn gets angry when he realizes his paranoia was misplaced, and just shoos the wolf away, and she seemingly leaves only to come back and sit next to him. She has zero shame she sits next to him on log or w/e he was and just watches him, and he just >:I
Wynn manages to distract the wolf, but she only comes back later in the day, and slithers into his bedroom to rest by fire place. Fred suggests he give the new pet a whirl, as this wolf clearly wants to be with him, and she seems smart enough to leave if things don’t work out. So about a week passes, she gingerly tails Wynn around, and Wynn just frowns to her affections. Wynn didn't even name her yet he just calls he a 'she', he is really not looking forward to this whole pet shabbang, but the wolf for some reason is not leaving. Wynn is not like straight up hostile with her but he clearly does not want her, yet she hasn't left (he joked that his dragons didn't either, curse of a hunter, you attract pets) until one day he's walking in Frostridge, and they pass by an ogre camp, and wolf suddenly stops in her tracks, and whines, and becomes clearly scared, and hesitates, but still follows Wynn. '...what's wrong with you all of a sudden?' Wolf just looks down, and whines, almost crying. Wynn looks around, and he sees a bunch of white wolf pelts, drying on the outskirt of the camp, as some ogres are tending to them, and then it hits him like a truck, as to why she chose him and stuck with him despite everything: she lost everything too, and felt a kindred spirit in him.
Wynn just kinda stands there, looking at the pelts, and after a bit sighs heavily, 'They were your pack, and you feel bad for leaving them to survive?' wolf just lays down in the snow, uncharacteristically depressed, 'Yeah....I know that feeling...' He walks up to her, and kneels next to her, and she doesn't even seem to acknowledge him. Wynn hesitates, but finally pets her, giving her a scratch behind her ear, 'Fred is right. I should try and move one, even if slowly, and being mad at you is never gonna bring Timber back, and you will never live up to him, but you will be your own wolf, and better one at that. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have taken out my anger at you, you are going through your own grief and you didn't let it bring you down, I could learn something from you...' wolf finally, very weakly, wags her tail at that. Wynn sighs, 'If you are gonna stick around, you are going to need a name...O god, how does one even name a pet, it's been so long-' he pauses, ' You followed me around like a ghost...and your fur is very white. How does Ghost sound?' she perks up her ears and licks his hand, finally wagging her tail properly, 'I take that as a yes. Now, 'as he gets up, 'Do you wanna kill some ogres?' she barks and snarls. They kill a few ogres that are on the outskirts of the camp drying the pelts, and he takes all the pelts, and burns them when they're at a safe distance, as a way to bury them and give them rest. Ghost rests her paw and head on his lap, and they sit silently for a while, watching the fire burn, and he pets her and says 'You're alright, we both will be fine with time.'
