I have infinite faith in my generation. If you think I shouldn't, let me be the first to be 'entitled' enough to tell you exactly why you're wrong. We are the most powerful and engaged generation in history. We have the collection of humanity's knowledge in the palms of our hands. We fact check ourselves mid-conversation because we actually care about being correct. Some may think we're "disengaged" because we "stare at screens" like there is nothing behind them. Like we're not learning about the newest scientific discoveries, breaking news stories, and engaging with more friends and distant relatives than anyone of a previous generation ever could. People think we're entitled, and act like it's a bad thing. Maybe we're just entitled enough to actually get something done in this world. We're finally entitled enough to not put up with the horrible decisions made by generations before us and do something about the problems at our feet. We won't wait for someone else to fix societal problems for us, give us a job, make a product, provide a service, so we're just entitled enough to make it happen for ourselves. We will go out and start a company that provides missing services. We will start a non-profit that fixes a problem in our communities because we fucking care; because we are engaged, because we know we're powerful, and we're not going to let any obstacle or opinion of others get in our way. So if you think we're lost, disengaged, or think we're just looking at screens, I'm just entitled enough to know you're wrong and tell you exactly why. We're going to change this world -- with or without your permission.
