Amanda I just read That Person's response to your post and man, as an autistic woman I'm having to fight myself to not start shit with them right now. Can allistic people PLEASE stop using as their rhetorical prop and talk about us like we're helpless children who can't deal with when bad things happen in fiction to someone we love? 1
Like SW have been my special interest on some level since I was 13. I've been hyperfocused on it from TFA to TLJ and was absolutely devastated about Finn, I know how it feels. It wasn't a great time for me no. But god, the underlying infantalization of autistic people in that comment really makes me want to slap that person. (end)
its been driving me up the wall and you just KNOW a lot of these people dont understand what they’re talking about and just want to call people ableist for some reason while being ableist themselves. i hate the way this shit is so normalized in fandom and how its like intrinsically associated with autism/adhd/etc
