PROVERBS S.O.A.P. ~ CHAPTER 26

Happy Labor Weekend, y'all...

SCRIPTURE:

For lack of wood the fire goes out,  And where there is no whisperer, contention quiets down.  ... The words of a whisperer are like dainty morsels,  And they go down into the innermost parts of the body.   ~Proverbs 26:20, 22

OBSERVATION:

Lack of wood / lack of studying? - lack of feeding the fire of follow-ship...

Whisperer - the enemy? He whispered to Eve in the garden and to Jesus in the desert... and he whispers to me every single day... but when I don't listen - when I "banish" the whisperer and his "dainty morsels" my being in contention with the Holy Spirit - with the will of God in and for my life "...quiets down..."

But what if the "whisperer" IS the Holy Spirit? There's no contention between what I want and God's will without His "whispering" reminders of my sinful self in opposition to the Holy God's will for my life... and His "dainty morsels" - His encouragement and reminders - go down to the innermost parts - my heart and soul...

APPLICATION:

Feed the fire... the "woodpile/Word-pile" never runs out...

Listen for and listen to the right "Whisperer..."

PRAYER:

Powerful Father God - Forgive my listening to the wrong whisperer... for not paying enough attention to Your still, small voice... for thinking my own way - my own "wisdom" - is all I need... Thank You for Your Holy Spirit who reminds me that there is hope beyond my self - the hope and promise Jesus brought on my behalf... Keep His flame burning brightly in all I do and think and say that others can see the fire of His life and resurrection in my life... In His all sufficient Name...

Next week begins the last five verses of Proverbs... I thought we might look at the New Testament and start with Matthew (since we looked at Mark, Luke, and everything else last year...) - Thoughts?
