This is extremely self indulgent. And not canon in the slightest. LMAO. I also use Dust!Sans to describe fannon dusttale sans and Murder!Sans to describe canon dusttale sans so yeah this is Fanon Dust.

PROWLER!CHARA

So Prowler lore dump (I will be talking as if you’ve already read their backstory fic)

After escaping their au, they start hunting through other AUs such as underfell and underswap, and basically get on the radar of Dream and Swap, which forces Ink to explain the whole situation. So they got the star sanses on their trail, and that in itself brings in even more attention. Namely for Error, who lets Nightmare know about the pest since they are leaving a bunch of empty aus which are corrupting on themselves and causing a whole bunch of multiverse traffic. So then Nightmare gets intrigued, wanting to strike a deal with them. Prowler stumbles upon a Farmtale variant after being badly wounded, and the sans of the au (known as Cedar) finds them. Prowler spends a couple weeks resting up there, and bonding with Papyrus (Crops) and Cedar, refusing to give much info about their past. However, this variant of Farmtale is in alliance with Nightmare and his gang, providing food and resources. When Horror goes for a supply pickup, he slips up about their quest to find a random kid with a torn up soul, and Cedar lets it slip that they have Prowler in their custody. Prowler overhears the conversation and thinks they are being sold out, when Cedar is actually trying to reason with Horror and get him to leave the child alone, and so Prowler runs from the house. Crops chases after them, begging them to stop, but Prowler gets scared and claws his hand. It leaves it bloody and broken, and Prowler is horrified by what they done, especially when they see Cedar staring at the wound in shock and fury. Terrified at the idea of being screamed at and abandoned again over a mistake, like their Chara once did to them, they flee, and hide away in other aus, drifting between them and eating as little as possible to keep from being found. They are caught by the bad sanses, which you can see in my animatic of “You Belong Here”. They are thrown at Nightmares feet and offered a deal: a part time membership where they only help on certain missions where they need more people. In return, they will be provided information on multiple different aus, allowing their traveling options to expand. (They have to be able to think about the Au and it’s basic summary to teleport there. Without those things, they can not access the au. ) they agree, because they don’t have many options, and stay at Nightmare’s castle.

They deal with frequent murder attempts— and after some time, build a peace with the others. The others see them like family, but Prowler never does. Not even coworkers. Prowler is too scared to trust again, so they never end up being vulnerable with the others, which is their downfall. They slowly start to lose themselves, and they lash out at the others, and even almost kill Killer, lost in the past and believing they are back in their AU. This wouldn’t have worked if Killer hadn’t been experiencing flashbacks as well, believing that his Chara had come back to finish him off, which terrified him. This set the castle in disarray, and after a awful fight with Dust, one where Prowler got slapped, causing their cheek to bleed and scar over, they left. They didn’t know where else to go, so they went back to Cedar and Crops with the meek hop of being welcomed back. Crops allowed them in with no hesitation and instantly asked if they wanted to stay, which they said yes to. When Cedar got back from the farm, he blew up, and yelled at Prowler to leave. Ink had visited him a while after they left, and told them EVERYTHING they had done. Prowler begged him to listen to them— to understand they never wanted to hurt people, and before Cedar could tell them to get out, Crops cut in and used his older brother card, declaring that Prowler stays and that’s final.

It takes a year for things to settle over, but after many talks, Cedar and Prowler get back on good terms. Prowler still works for Nightmare’s gang, much to the distaste of their caretakers. The older two hate seeing them come back from missions hurt both physically and emotionally.

But Prowler gets to be a kid again. They get to smile and be vulnerable and safe.

Little Spoiler for my tumblr followers. My tiktok followers are weeping rn: in a couple of Prowler’s endings, they get a gf.

This is Cherry and she was an inhabitant of a copy of underfell. That copy was destroyed, however, and many members fled to the Omega Timeline. Prowler meets her in many different ways, but each time, they fall deeply in love with her upon their first conversation.

I won’t spoil anymore, but I will say this: these two absolutely adore each-other, and they are just what the other needs.

Soooo little heads up! Prowlertale will be told in fic form!

It will be released very soon, and I’m looking at about 20k words worth on content. After the main fic is published, I will go on to make different fics exploring the different outcomes of the first fic. Prowlertale will always have multiple endings, and many characters haven’t even been introduced yet.

I will say this: the fic will not be lighthearted. It is the darkest writing piece I’ve ever done. A warning will be displayed on the fic when it is released. Please keep this in mind when it does eventually release.
