Help nature help you!
By David Lopez, amateur journalist.
Interview with Ismael Felix, representative of Proyecto Verde, a passion-fuelled project directed at spreading awareness regarding the small actions we can do to help the environment, and thus, help ourselves in the way.
An interactive activity by Proyecto Verde early this year.
D: Could you please introduce yourself and tell us about your role in Proyecto Verde?
Ismael: Hi, my name is Ismael, and sure, I'm thrilled to talk about my project. Proyecto Verde concerns itself with various aspects of the environment at our academic institution, Preparatoria Federal Lázaro Cárdenas, but my role primarily revolves around conducting research regarding the type of plant we could next grow in our school's garden.
D: Can you share some insights into the current state of the project and its goals?
Ismael: Sure. Our project focuses on raising awareness about environmental issues and promoting sustainable practices. We collaborate primarily with our local academic community at PFLC, and advocate for policies and, most of all, habits that protect the environment.

D: Can you share any recent achievements or milestones reached by your project?
Ismael: Certainly. We recently launched a successful campaign to reduce single-use plastic consumption at PFLC, which resulted in a significant decrease in plastic waste. Additionally, we've partnered with other schools to educate students about environmental conservation through interactive workshops.
D: Have any challenges arisen as of lately?
Ismael: Absolutely. One of the biggest challenges we're facing is lack of public initiative regarding our community at PFLC, which is in turn causing a lack of initiative in members of the project. We've been trying to have the students participate in certain activities from Proyecto Verde, and while they do pay off, it's taken a toll on all of us. A lot of effort has to go into paperwork and into the activity itself, yet at times it feels like the impact is minimal.
D: How does your project aim to address these challenges?
Ismael: Well, for one we've been trying to get a handle of a one on one method of communication with the school’s principal, to smooth up the entire process. If this does not succeed, we'll have to start thinking on a more aggressive marketing strategy, if you will. Basically, we'll advertise ourselves a bit more, since our popularity has a lot to do with the success of our activities.
D: What do you hope to accomplish in the future with this project?
Ismael: Our ultimate goal is to inspire positive change and create a more sustainable future for generations to come. We aim to expand our reach and implement scalable solutions that have a lasting impact on the environment.
D: Is there anything else you'd like to add?
Ismael: I'd like to encourage everyone to take small steps in their daily lives to reduce their environmental footprint. Whether it's recycling, conserving energy, or supporting eco-friendly businesses, every action counts in protecting our planet.
D: Thank you again for your time and dedication to this important cause.
