Violet the Pryor Mountain Wild Mustang by Renee Lund Via Flickr: This little girl loves to roam and investigate rocks and juniper trees and sometimes it would take her away from her mothers side. This handsome stallion ran a tight ship and felt the need to keep the little filly next to them. I'm sure he felt his mare was being too relaxed. I couldn't figure out what was making him so tense as I was nowhere close to them and then all of a sudden out of the corner of my eye I saw the reason. Another small band was about 1/2 mile away. The stallion then snaked the mare and filly towards me and kept them closer to me by half the distance. I watched as the mare scolded the stallion for being to controlling with her tiny filly. The tiny filly Violet is still finding her footing being she's only about a week old and Inniq the stallion is still learning his role and duties from his mare Jewel. She's been pretty patient up until now when all of a sudden she gets nose to nose with ears pinned back and verbally let's her stallion know his boundaries. He settled down once they were closer to me and farther from the neighboring band. Little Violet laid down for a short rest and Jewel continued to graze while Inniq returned to his guard duties.
