How do they want to be seen by others? She wants to be seen as competent and caring, as well as unflappable 

How do they see themselves? She sees herself as capable and calm, even when things look uncertain

Strongest character trait? Serenity - it’s difficult to shake Aurelia

Weakest character trait? Flippancy - she tends to view things as a joke

What is their greatest fear? Losing her family

When was the last time they cried? Aurelia doesn’t cry frequently; the last time she cried was when she said goodbye to her parents and sibling before coming to the Dawn Court

Currently, she considers the royal family from the Dawn Court to be part of her family; her family has expanded, but it’s still not large - her parents only had two children. Her family is her parents and sibling, her husband, her sister-in-law, brother-in-law, and his betrothed

How do they feel about their family? She loves them and wants to help them as much as possible

Who is their closest friend? Her ladies’ maid/lady-in-waiting who accompanied her from the Day Court is her closest confidant; she and Carys have also become quite close friends since she came to the Dawn Court

What was your character like as a baby? As a child? Aurelia has always been a quiet person - she was fussy as a baby, but not loud, and as she grew older, she continued to be quiet and self-contained

Did they grow up rich or poor? Her family was nobility, so they were wealthy - they didn’t flaunt it, but they had money

What is their greatest achievement? She worked on a translation of an old book, and considers that her greatest achievement

What are their ambitions? She wants to get to know her new family better, and find a way to use her skills to assist them

What smells remind them of their childhood? Parchment; she spent as much time as she could in the libraries, and the smell of parchment and books reminds her of her childhood

What bad habits do they have? He tends to withdraw from other people when he’s going through something emotionally, and also tries to scare people off during those times

How do they want to be seen by others? He wants to be seen as a hard worker who doesn’t get encumbered with anything that might distract him from his job

How do they see themselves? He sees himself fairly accurately, as a good worker who can be too gruff and withdrawn at times; he

Strongest character trait? Loyalty

Weakest character trait? Reclusiveness

What is their greatest fear? Something happening to his family while he’s away from them

When was the last time they cried? The first time he left home, when his youngest sister (she’s his favorite but don’t tell the others) cried and begged him not to go (she has since become accustomed to it all, although she frequently threatens to move to the court and find work there as well)

Is their family big or small? Who does it consist of? - His family is fairly large, and consists of his parents and siblings; there are also cousins on both sides that are quite close to the Maddox family

How do they feel about their family? Alistair loves his family more than anything; he moved away from his childhood home and thus far hasn’t spent much time back there although he does visit occasionally and write frequently

Who is their closest friend? Currently, his closest friend is one of the guards; their rooms are close to each other and they work the same shift (late evening until just after dawn)

Past and Future

What was your character like as a baby? As a child? He was a bubbly, happy baby who grew into a mischievous and fun-loving child; his personality became gradually more stoic as he grew older and left home and now, he’s quite withdrawn and quiet

Did they grow up rich or poor? The family was middle class, but most assumed they were poor, given their home in the woods; his parents were rather reclusive and liked the privacy, and they made as much of they could so they didn’t have to go into town

What is their greatest achievement? Earning his position with the guard; he has an excellent reputation and is known for working hard, and he’s proud of that

What are their ambitions? Currently, he just wants to do well in his work; he doesn’t necessarily want to rise to captain of the guard or have a title or anything, he just wants the satisfaction of a job well done

What smells remind them of their childhood? The forest, since his family lived in the forest

Do they believe in love at first sight? No; he believes in infatuation at first sight but he thinks love is something that takes time to develop

Are they in a relationship? No; he did have a relationship when he first came to the court but it ended shortly after that, when he decided he needed to focus more fully on his work

Has your character ever been in love? No, although he did believe he could have fallen in love with the last person he was involved with

Have they ever had their heart broken? No; Alistair hasn’t had any relationship that got to that stage - so far, he’s only been involved with people rather casually

What bad habits do they have? She has a tendency to act without thinking about the consequences, and speak without thinking

How do they want to be seen by others? She wants to be seen as brave (for leaving her family) and a good queen in the Night Court

How do they see themselves? She has not quite shaken the idea that she’s horribly selfish for choosing her happiness over her family

Strongest character trait? Determination

Weakest character trait? Impulsiveness

What is their greatest fear? That Rhys will come to regret their marriage and she’ll be left with nothing

When was the last time they cried? A few weeks ago, when she was feeling especially homesick and terrible for leaving her family

Is their family big or small? Who does it consist of? Currently, her family is Rhys and Oralie; before she ran away, she lived with her parents, grandparents, and an uncle and aunt, and their children from her father’s side (after the family lost their money, they all moved to an old family estate in the countryside and stayed there until they were able to arrange Arian’s marriage to the king of the Spring Court)

How do they feel about their family? She adores Rhys and is getting to know Oralie; Arian would do anything for her new family - she felt the same way about her family before too, until they expected her to sacrifice her happiness for their gain

Who is their closest friend? She’s still making friends in the Night Court, but she would consider Rhys her closest friend, and Oralie another close friend

Past and Future

What was your character like as a baby? As a child? She was a bubbly baby, rarely upset, and grew into a precocious little girl; before her family moved to the country estate, she charmed everyone she met. After they moved, she started running a bit wild - just in the sense that she spent most of her time outdoors and came home again windblown and muddy

Did they grow up rich or poor? Her family lost their wealthy, although they weren’t completely destitute; they lived in shabby grandeur, with the obvious signs that the estate needed funds to achieve its old elegance

What is their greatest achievement? Although she has some lingering guilt over it, she’s very proud of choosing to go after what she really wanted and marry Rhys

What are their ambitions? She wants to earn the love and respect of the people in the Night Court and be a good queen for Rhys

What smells remind them of their childhood? Roses - her family estate had a large rose garden where she spent a lot of her time when she was younger

Do they believe in love at first sight? Yes, since she fell in love with Rhys at first sight

Are they in a relationship? She is very happily married

Has your character ever been in love? She is currently in love with her husband

Have they ever had their heart broken? Not romantically, but she did break her own heart when she left her family

What bad habits do they have? She is so desperate to prove herself that it has become an obsession, and she often only gets a couple of hours sleep due to her planning and scheming

How do they want to be seen by others? A powerful queen to be feared

How do they see themselves? A woman barely holding things together, trying to cope with ruling a court and being a good mother to her son that feel she betrayed him

Strongest character trait? Strength of will

Weakest character trait? Hot temper

What is their greatest fear? That she will lose everything it took her so long to achieve

When was the last time they cried? She often has melancholy nights where she cries, thinking of the son that she had to give up

Friends and Family

Is their family big or small? Who does it consist of? The Vanserra family is a large one, with family members scattered all over the court, but the immediate royal family consist of the Queen Mother (Elara’s mother), Elara herself, her brother, and her son. She also has an illegitimate son who is Prince of the Day Court.

How do they feel about their family? She loves them, but finds it difficult to show it. It breaks her heart that she cannot tell her son that he has a half brother in the Day Court

Who is their closest friend? No one. She knows her position as queen as precarious and does not want anyone seeing weakness in her

Past and Future

What was your character like as a baby? As a child? Very obedient. She was trained from birth to be the perfect princess and always do what was commanded of her, which is how she ended up married to Beron in the first place

Did they grow up rich or poor? As a princess, she was always surrounded by wealth

What is their greatest achievement? Breaking free of her husband’s tyranny and taking the throne for herself

What are their ambitions? To make the Autumn Court the most powerful in Prythian

What smells remind them of their childhood? Woodsmoke - Even though she was the perfect princess, one of the few ‘improper’ things her family allowed was for Elara to go on hunting trips with her father. Him telling her stories by the fire is a fond memory for her

Love

Do they believe in love at first sight? No, she believes love is something that develops based on a genuine connection

Are they in a relationship? No, her husband died last month and she has not seen her former lover for a long time

Has your character ever been in love? Yes - she fell in love with the King of the Day Court (and still loves him but won’t admit it)

Have they ever had their heart broken? Yes, when she had to end the affair with the King of the Day Court to avoid them being discovered and protecting both of her sons

What bad habits do they have? Shopping. Rosalia looooves buying new things whether it’s fashion, jewellery, decor, you name it.

How do they want to be seen by others? As a strong, independent woman who can take care of herself

How do they see themselves? A woman who is very good at masking her true feelings and who no one really cares about beyond her money

Weakest character trait? Materialistic

What is their greatest fear? Disappointing her parents with her choices since their deaths

When was the last time they cried? She’s not much of a crier, but sometimes the tears will just come when she thinks back on her memories

Is their family big or small? Who does it consist of? She has some distant relatives, but she is the last true member of the Swann family

How do they feel about their family? She doesn’t talk about them much as it upsets her to think of them

Who is their closest friend? She has many friends, but there are few who she lets get too close to her

What was your character like as a baby? As a child? She was spoiled rotten by her family and treated like a little princess. It’s why she has such a high perception of herself and won’t settle for less than her worth

What smells remind them of their childhood? Peonies - They were her mother’s favourite flower and the garden of the manor house is still filled with them. She used to spend hours gardening with her mother

What bad habits do they have? He’s a workaholic. He’ll devote himself so wholeheartedly to caring for his patients that he forgets to look after himself

How do they want to be seen by others? As the best healer in Prythian without the help of magic

How do they see themselves? It’s unavoidable in the job he’s chosen for himself, but every patient’s death makes him feel like a failure

Weakest character trait? Altruistic (overly so)

When was the last time they cried? He cries whenever he loses a patient, but always holds it together until he’s alone before crying

Is their family big or small? Who does it consist of? Small. Just himself, his father and his sister. He doesn’t really remember his mother, who died in childbirth with his sister

How do they feel about their family? He loves them dearly but often becomes so focused on his work that he forgets to check in on them

Who is their closest friend? He doesn’t really have any

What was your character like as a baby? As a child? He was always a good kid and looked after his little sister while their father worked.

Did they grow up rich or poor? He grew up in the middle, with his father bringing home a good salary as a palace guard. Since being made a lord, he now has more wealth than he knows what to do with, so just lets his family spend it as they like

What is their greatest achievement? Learning the healing practices of every court in Prythian

What are their ambitions? To continue learning and become the best healer in the realm

What smells remind them of their childhood? Polished metal - he used to hang around the guard’s quarters all the time waiting for his father to finish his shift and take him home

Do they believe in love at first sight? He doesn’t think about it much, he’s probably open to the idea and sees it for other people but can’t see it happening to him

Have they ever had their heart broken? His heart breaks every time he loses a patient. Even if he did everything in his power, it still breaks him to lose anyone under his care

Scars - Small scars criss-cross his body from his youth spent training with the Illyrian warriors

Tattoos - He has a tattoo of a mountain with three stars on each knee, symbolising that he will kneel for nothing and no one but his crown

Personality

What bad habits do they have? Rhys knows how to have a good time, which isn’t too fitting for a king. It’s not hard to draw him into a card game that lasts for hours and costs him a pretty penny.

How do they want to be seen by others? He wants to be seen as a strong, decisive king who does everything for the good of his people

How do they see themselves? A man too concerned with his own wants and desires. He doesn’t regret his marriage, but knows it was selfish and fears what consequences there may be for his actions.

Weakest character trait? Impulsiveness

What is their greatest fear? Losing his loved ones

When was the last time they cried? He shed a little tear of joy on his wedding day, but the last time he openly cried was at his mother and sister’s funeral

Is their family big or small? Who does it consist of? Small - Himself, his wife and his cousin are the only ones in his immediate family. He has some distant relatives, but doesn’t consider them to be close family.

How do they feel about their family? Having lost both his parents and his sister, Rhys holds those who are left very dearly and is very protective of them.

Who is their closest friend? His cousin, Oralie. She has been like a sister to him and he trusts her completely. They bicker a lot, but they will always take care of one another.

Past and Future

What was your character like as a baby? As a child? Rhys was a very cute baby, but he became rebellious in childhood. He was always causing trouble and doing as he pleased. His mischievous streak has followed him into adulthood.

Did they grow up rich or poor? He grew up wealthy due to being part of the royal family, but he was sent to train with the Illyrian warriors in his teens to toughen him up and so he could have the experience of hard work. Every Archeron does this so they can understand their subjects better rather sitting on a pedestal above them.

What is their greatest achievement? Securing a truce with the Spring Court after centuries of feuding between the royal families. It’s not the easiest of peaces, but it has sopped the bloodshed. For now.

What are their ambitions? To be the best king he can be for his people and to hopefully keep the peace treaty with the Spring Court sustained, even if he did run off with their king’s fiancee.

What smells remind them of their childhood? Wet grass - he spent so much time in the Illyrian training camp that just the smell of it takes him back.

Do they believe in love at first sight? Yes, he’s experienced it

Are they in a relationship? Happily married

Has your character ever been in love? Rhys has had maaaaany flings and one night stands, but he has only ever been in love with his wife
