(Part One: General Bio) (Part Two: Psychic Powers)
Pyra Janison and her family lived in a cabin by Lake Oblongata. She liked to explore the forest and collect things she found. On one such wandering, she found an old dowsing rod washed up on the shore of the lake. This lead her to finding a particularly fascinating treasure; buried arrowheads. Over time, she amassed quite a collection.
When the Whispering Rock Psychic Summer Camp was established, Pyra would wander to the border of the camp and, on chance, interact with some of the camp goers. Upon learning of the camp’s currency of arrowheads, Pyra began trading her collection with the Psicadets for anything they had that she found interesting. As her arrowhead collection began to dwindle, she started to trek deeper and deeper into the woods to find more.
On one fateful day, while following a relatively strong pull from the dowsing rod, Pyra tumbled down into a hole. At the bottom, she discovered a cave system, within which she discovered a very large chunk of Psitanium. Unfortunately, while she attempted to dig it out, Pyra’s dowsing rod, having broken in the fall, was pulled like a magnet to the Psitanium, gaining momentum as more and more of it was uncovered, until it shot towards the source like an arrow. Pyra was, regrettably, not able to get out of the way fast enough, and was pierced through the brain, pinned to the glowing ore.
Somehow, Pyra survived. The Psitanium based nature of the dowsing rod merged with her brain, giving her psychic abilities, but at a cost. Upon regaining consciousness many days later, Pyra had little to no memories. After wandering aimlessly through the caverns, finally finding a way out into the woods, she winded up at the edge of the lake. There she is found by Sheegor and Mr. Pokeylope, who took Pyra to Thorney Towers to recover. They gave her bed rest and clean clothes, finding her initials on her clothes tag, allowing her some semblance of a name. While she rested, her psychic powers began to manifest, which soon became known to Dr. Loboto, unfortunately.
The dentist tried to extract her brain, but no matter what he tried, sneezing powder or drill, her brain remained in her head. When extraction proved fruitless, Loboto opted to keep her as a secret experiment, a possible psychic super weapon to sell to the highest bidder. She was to remain on the island, per Loboto’s ‘diagnosis’ and promise of helping her gain control over her abilities. To his covert intentions, Pyra, now PJ, remains oblivious, believing nearly everything the doctor says.
