Please Save My Earth by Saki Hiwatari
please save my earth studies
I propose
ぼくの地球を守って -Please Save My Earth-
Plot point that gets a surprising amount of page time in Please Save My Earth: boring middle-aged man for whom "heterosexuality" did not work out in his past life chooses to be reincarnated looking exactly like the cruel "rival in love" he was obsessed with... but he's going to use this mean guy's body to act all cute and vulnerable. So older bisexual men will like him, and his peers will yell at him, I guess.
Mokuren and Shion are so similar in their exclusion and loneliness. Even with the way they unknowingly incite the jealousy of their peers by just existing. Mokuren is especially heartbreakingly lonely because even when she managed to form a bond with Shion she was still -through his gaze- confined by her spiritual status and what it represents to him. I don’t think he saw her for the woman she was. There is still a hint of idolization on his part. and she plays the part to please him and out of love for him. I’m not saying that Shion’s love was faulted or anything, he loved her with his entire being. It’s just that one of the things that always stayed with me from this work was how Mokuren’s status always isolated her from those around her by being viewed as this higher perfect angelical being and so even in her relation to Shion she only manages to escape this isolation partially but not entirely.
I definitely need a second read to confirm things but this was based on my initial impression of their relationship. So i might be remembering things wrong.
ok i knew objectively that PSME was inspiration for Maria Robotnik but I didn't realize it was like that.
