ABOUT KITTY
Katherine Elise Wilde was born with two older brothers who were fiercely loyal & protective of her from the start. All she knew was that she always had someone to play with, someone to stand up for her on the playground when she was pushed out of the way. Which she didn’t let happen often, especially as she got older. She was content, happy with what she had. Church was just something that the family did every week and there wasn’t a choice about it.
Her world changed when her two younger sisters were born, questioning why she was by herself & didn’t have a “built-in best friend” twin. Of course she loved them and adored having other girls to play with -- dress up, nail painting, and Barbie dolls became her favorite parts of the day. But at the same time Kitty grew a little more introverted, not wanting to draw attention to herself and what she felt was an obvious difference. It wasn’t hard to do considering their parents had their hands full with five children. And she was comfortable that way, the dutiful daughter that didn’t want to rock the boat.
Music was one of the common traits that ran throughout the entire Wilde family, & while some of her siblings were singers or musicians, Kitty found herself drawn to dance. It was in her blood -- a way of expressing herself without words. And she was good at it. Dance lessons quickly became the thing that she looked forward to the most, taking as many as her parents would allow while still having time for her faith and schoolwork. She debated auditioning for the cheer squad in high school but was immediately reprimanded by her father who called the girls “attention whores” and lamented the state of the young women. So Kitty threw herself into ballet, her gracefulness something she worked hard to perfect and display even in her everyday movements.
Although Kitty had her suspicions about her father, they weren’t confirmed until Zach’s on air display when she was 12. She begged Gabriel to tell her the real story, the true reason why he was always so tense and upset. And that’s when her world fell apart for the first time. She wasn’t oblivious, just chose to ignore the indications that things weren’t quite so picture perfect in the Wilde family as if they would just disappear without attention. So she struggled a lot without Zach, mostly in her faith. How could a loving God let something like this happen? Wasn’t her father supposed to be the best? It felt like a facade, like a lie they had been portraying to the entire nation. Ironically, Kitty’s faith is what got her through one of the hardest times in her life, her reliance on God stronger than ever as she continued to figure out what it all meant for her now. It was how she ended up working at Pacific Grace after graduation from PSU, feeling her own calling to encourage others in their faith as well. She also instructs the dance team at the university, unable to fully let go of that part of her life (and sometimes wishing it was more prevalent).
As far as relationships went, Kitty never had a boyfriend until high school, per her father’s rules and also due to her general fear about it. He had made it seem like boys only wanted one thing and she was to be on her guard at all times. And at first she thought he had been right. A string of relationships ended because Kitty wouldn’t have sex, determined to wait until marriage. Which, until recently, seemed like it was in the near future. She became engaged to her college sweetheart, someone she met through the campus ministry and fell head over heels for before she realized what had happened. He was different, not like those other boys from before. Never pressuring her, convincing her that he understood and was more than happy to wait with her. The “perfect relationship” to all of their adoring fans on Wilde Faith. All words that became meaningless when she walked in on him having sex with her roommate about a month ago -- the second time her world collapsed. She called off the engagement and broke up with him immediately, ultimately devastated but determined not to let anyone know just how much. Maybe it just wasn’t meant to be for her, and that was alright. At least, that’s what she was currently trying to convince herself while filling her life with distractions to avoid facing her real feelings. They haven’t made a public statement yet although it’s not like things are a secret; Kitty just wants to avoid the public spotlight as much as possible for the time being.
FAMILY BACKGROUND
At first, Aaron Wilde was just like any other pastor. He was loved by many in Knoxville, and that’s how it stayed for many years. As the years went on, though, he grew in popularity. Everyone in Tennessee would travel to see him - especially the housewives with nothing better to do. Did Aaron’s good looks have everything to do with his popularity? Absolutely. Which is why it was no surprise when someone in Los Angeles called him, asking him if he’d like to have his own church (that seated 17,000 people). He agreed, of course. Aaron moved his whole family to Los Angeles so he could be the pastor of Pacific Grace Church. Aaron Wilde became the best-known pastor in the United States, with several people from all over the United States coming over to see him give sermons. Every sermon was televised. Aaron did this for seven years, and then was offered a reality television deal. They named the show Wilde Faith, and it followed around the Wilde family to show off how they were a perfect Christian family. Wilde Faith was on for six seasons, as Aaron continued to be the pastor at Pacific Grace. After the six seasons, they decided to end because Aaron said “he talked to God and He said it was time to stop”. Aaron continues to work at Pacific Grace to this day. Elizabeth is the happy and dutiful wife to him, and that’s about it.
