ABOUT SHEPHERD
TW: Drunk Driving, Car Accident
On the outside looking in the Evans family was always the down-home, country living, picture perfect American family. Four kids, all close in age, with blonde hair to match their country music star dad and super model mom most of America propped them up as ideal from birth. But despite how things looked for most of their life they weren't always drama free. Dwight was constantly on the road which forced Mary to sideline her career right when it was at it's peak. She didn't mind most of the time because she wanted to be close with her kids, but the more time passed and the older they got the resentment set in. Shepherd always did his best to play peace maker between both sides where he could but he could feel deep down where this was going to end.
And he was right, the Evans family fall out ended in divorce. The media circus that surrounded them forced their kids to take sides even if that's not what they officially called it. Shepherd stayed in the middle up until the moment his Dad chose to date a woman that was old enough to be his sister. He couldn't defend his actions or his choices anymore and chose to stand by his mother's side instead. He doesn't have any contact with Dwight anymore despite him reaching out over and over again.
Shepherd was always playing sports as his escape from it all and he was naturally gifted at it too. Between football and basketball he had a plethora of colleges scouting him but Mary insisted that he go to PSU because it would be better for him to be surrounded by people that come from the same privilege he did. Now a senior, it turned out she was right, this was a good escape for Shep. Always known to be a party boy, his Sophomore year, Shep was the driver in a drunk driving accident that lead to both himself and the other driver to be injured. Dwight stepped in and paid off the other driver's injuries while Shep ended up with a career ending knee injury. The following years he's committed to staying sober and wanted to focus on his career that he has wanted since he was a teen - a sideline reporter for the NFL or NBA.
FAMILY BACKGROUND
Country music star, Dwight Evans, rose to fame in his 20s after winning American Idol (think Carrie Underwood). Evan's first single "Flowers and Hounds" made him the first country artist to debut atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart and the only solo country artist in the 2000s to have a number-one song on the Hot 100. His debut album, "I Still Believe in Rebellion", was the best-selling solo male debut album in country music history.
Dwight met super model, Mary Tanner at a client mixer where they immediately hit it off. One Elvis impersonator marriage later and the two were now the Evans family. They had four kids together and did their best to keep themselves away from the rumor mill that comes with the spotlight. But like most, it did eventually catch up to them as Dwight and Mary decided to get a divorce sighting irreconcilable differences. The fall out was messy and now Dwight is seeing a much younger woman, forcing the family to take sides as the media circus plays around them.
