Dark Academia CYOA Games
It’s almost surprising those exist, but I love choose your own adventure games and those are pretty great! And also cheap. Keep in mind that all of those are entirely text based!
I replayed Psy High just because I missed him. So I’m here to just dump all of my favorite moments with Carl during book 1
I think I just found out my soulmate lol
So, here we are, hitting the books, playing video games and chilling, it's a very peaceful study sesión and then...
You notice your best friend spacing out, so of course you're gonna ask if he is Okey 🤭
Whoa indeed.
That is the most beautyful, ankward, adorable thing I have ever seen and I'm totally not blushing!!!
I love the best friends to lovers trope 😭❤️
Let’s Talk Psy High!
Psy High was the very first one of these stories I’ve ever read and because of it, it has a place in my heart. You never forget your first right?
The whole premise of the story is you play a high school student who is pretty much the Sherlock Holmes of the school solving kids' problems here and there! But if that doesn’t kick up some interest (boom!) let’s add psychic powers! But unlike what your mom probably said, you aren’t the only one who’s special at school; some of the other students also have powers. From your best friend who can turn invisible to the cliche rebel who can start fires.
And when something big starts happening around the school you are in the center of it all, trying to stop it....or let it happen!
That choice right there is what makes it fun! When students around you start changing for the better should you really stop it? Or maybe your into the idea of everyone having free will? Either way, you can pick which way it goes in the end.

You can really customize your character! Play as a boy, girl, or non-binary! Gay, straight, or bi! You can be cool, or a jock, or rebel or the free-spirited kid who probably carries around gemstones and wears tie-dyed shirts. You can be subtle about your power or obvious about it.
I like when stats matters and here it sort of does. You have Academic, Athletics, Social, and Popularity and will have to choose what you excel at and what you aren’t so good at. If you're popular you might get the chance to become prom king or queen. If your smart, no need to waste your time studying too much and you will get the chance to do something else (if need be). There are a few stat checks that you should pick what you’re good at and if you don’t well you kind of fail at it, but it’s not too crucial to the plot. If you want to make sure you come up with a good comeback for the school bully you better be pretty good socially.
The romantic options! I am a sucker for romance so having a lot of choices it always makes me happy. You can date your long-standing crush, the bad boy who you use to be friends with, your best friend, or the school journalist. Plus, if you’ve ever wanted to date several people at once you can do that too! I think it’s locked with a certain three people with the same sort of outcome but it’s still fun while it lasts.
You don’t just worry about the mystery, you have college to think about! And I think that’s a pretty realistic thing to consider. Depending on what stat you pick to excel at you can have a chance to gaining a sport or academic scholarship. Important stuff since you don’t want to drown in debt. Like some of us our T_T

I wish it was longer. I feel like that’s always going to be something I wish but it’s only 180,000 which is on the lower side of contact when it comes to these choice games. It’s very easy to get through it all without a hitch pretty quickly. You can always replay it several times and be a different type of student dating one of the options and ending the game differently, and there’s a sequel already out!
Overall, I think it’s worth it. Personally, I always enjoyed playing it, I usually always play as a jock who popular but kind of socially awkward. Always ends up with their best friend. I was happy that a sequel came out and I’ll give you my opinion on that too. But for now, I think you should play it! It’s a good story, with an interesting mystery with a moral choice.
It came out in 2014 so it’s not new but it’s still worth a read.

PSY HIGH
So yeah!
This is a pretty fun.... Game...? Book...? Ebook...? Game book...? Non-Visual Novel....?
Choose your Own Adventure Game book thing...?
ANYWAY! Whatever this is!
It’s fun. I love it. I will be getting things like this in the future.
This one in Particular, is about typical High School stuff about teenagers with powers and all that. And it’s kind of a mystery thing, but it isn’t, really. And yeah.
You can be whatever you want to be. I guess.
The only thing I have a problem with is the lack of aesthetic style options you can have about yourself in the beginning of the story, but really, that is only a me thing, so, you don’t have to care about that useless opinion. XD
But, I guess, I did find the whole thing predictable, as all American high school themed stories always are. Also, this thing is almost $9.00, like. That’s actually too much for something like this. I mean, I know they need money, but something with a generic story line as this and the length of it is not even that long to begin with? They at least could’ve made the plot longer, or made a few more mystery case chapters to tell leading to the main plot and make use of the mystery part of the genre more, enough to actually warrant that almost 9 bucks.
But I guess they wanted to make it short so you can replay it as many times as you want, but still. They could’ve made the story longer.
But other than that, I really do like thisssss..... thing. Whatever this is.
anyway. i have a Type.
