Maybe this is the wrong place to ask, but what is vampirism or vampire-identifying people and how is it different than otherkin? I know the communities are different (aren't they?) I'm confused. Does anyone have any resources available/suggestions?
Well, as far as I know, vampires largely believe that they are still human but they have a need for energy either through psychic energy (psychic vampires) or through blood (sanguinarian vampires). They recognize themselves as humans but have this need. Vampirekin, though, identify as a vampire as a nonhuman thing. They may still have energy needs, or they may not. That need isn't necessarily integral to the identity as far as I know. Cravings or affinities for blood/bloody things though are common from what I have read. They may also feel astral limbs/astral forms. The communities are different. Vampires don't identify as otherkin and have their own tags on tumblr, culture, and is even a subculture in some areas. Vampirekin, however, are a part of the othekrin community. I believe that some may overlap, but largely the two communities stay separate.
If someone has more information/has any corrections in case of misinformation, please feel free to chime in!
