Ever heard of the band Skull Practitioners? I hope so! Because they’re great! Psych-punk? I hear that term thrown up a bit for these guys from New York. Make of it what you will, but I think you will enjoy the heavy 3 piece.

(recensione): Oh Sees - Face Stabber (Castle Face, 2019)

Ventidue anni di carriera e ventidue album: uno per ogni anno di attività. Band originale e  versatile, restia ad essere incasellata in un unico genere musicale, gli Oh Sees, californiani di San Francisco, hanno saputo rinnovarsi album dopo anno, dando prova di un talento multiforme. Giunge in questi giorni la loro ultima fatica, Face Stabber, disco pubblicato, questa volta, con il nome Oh Sees (il gruppo, si è fatto chiamare, nel corso degli anni in molteplici modi, da  Thee Oh Sees a The Oh Sees, o anche The Ohsees per finire con Orange County Sound, OCS e Orinoka Crash Suite, ndlr). Un lavoro complesso e monumentale, estremamente sperimentale, e per certi versi sorprendente: lungo un'ora e venti minuti, per quattordici tracce, Face Stabber è una sorta di microcosmo, un caleidoscopio che racchiude in sè un po' tutti gli stili elaborati dalla band, capitanata dall'eclettico John Dwyer, dal 1997, anno della loro formazione, ad oggi.
