I must ask for your expert opinion, if you would be so kind. At the end of my letter, I have copied the text of a newspaper article about a sudden death some time ago. Perhaps you heard about it at the time. Could you tell me why a heart attack would be considered suspicious, or why this Mr. Lysander may have been suspected in connection to it?

To think, even in Japan I'm still being asked questions about affairs in England like this!

I remember the case. It may interest you to know that I performed the post-mortem examination on the poor gentleman at the time. The toxicology report listed a number of drugs in his system, stimulants and opioids which can in some cases lead to a heart attack, particularly in a man who neglects his health. Though as we could not perform an autopsy, there may well have been more to it that was left undiscovered.

From what I can recall, the death was itself the end of a long line of strange behavior from the man, which my assistant at the time, Dr. Mikotoba, had been helping to investigate in an outside capacity. Apparently, the Lord had become secretive, aggressive, extremely energetic and active, and was neglecting his own health despite his considerable age---all things that were concerning to the man's young fiancée. It is believed that this rash of behaviors contributed to his death.

Now, in regards to your question about a certain Mr. Lysander... I will admit he was at one point considered a major contributor to the death, but the charges were dropped from a lack of evidence and the man quit England soon after. As I know little about his affairs, and as I am uncomfortable speaking about them for reasons which are my own, that is the most I can respond as to this point.

Ah yes, the urge to connect every new first name to the Holmes stories! But Lysander Stark of The Engineer's Thumb would appear to have no similarities with this Lysander... although he does remind me strongly of TGAA!Enoch Drebber.

I picked Lysander for a couple of reasons!

I thought it was one of the more distinct Holmes criminal first name I could find, yes! Whether or not Mr. Stronghart fits the story role was less important to me imo given the in-game precedent of how the names Garrideb, Windibank, and Enoch Drebber were used.

It sounds vaguely like Lies-and-slander which is a character tic/phrase I attribute to him

Mr. Sholmes is asleep. It looks like he won't wake any time soon. There's an old newspaper clipping on the desk. It seems to be discussing the sudden death of a prominent Lord by heart attack. A family friend by the name Lysander is suspected in relation to the death. ...There's some more at the bottom about a youth potion, but it's been torn to shreds by cat claws.
