10 track album
a note - my queue has caught up with my output. i expect a hiatus for a week or so to happen soon as i am going away. and just when i’d cracked 30 followers on twitter!
there’s something happening here that i think i need to have some knowledge outside of the bandcamp page to fully comprehend. there’s a reference to a person named Rock Section, the title character in Julian Cope’s One Three One, but I don’t think this is a Julian Cope thing. Though it isn’t inconceivable, I suppose?
This was actually recorded in 1993 in one day, a significant undertaking considering that the first three tracks combined crack 42 minutes. the rest of the record ambles toward to the two hour mark in a fug of improvised psych and blues.
each tune finds a mood and mode and explores it for as long as it feels like. it’s quite admirable even though none of them particularly push into new realms. rather it feels more like the early stages of a band practice, when the band jam out before the singer of normal songs plugs in.
there are nods to Spacemen 3, Bobb Trimble, Ash Ra Tempel, Junior Kimbrough, but it’s not as good as any of those. (5)
