Background texturing for Memento Mori has been completely finished at last! After wrangling a variety of technical issues including learning Blender 4.2 doesn't always have a default HDRI for rendering, I've come up with a simple and effective pipeline that prioritizes keeping render times down (made even easier by using Eevee) while still looking the way it needs to.

The spring semester has finally finished and I can share the most up to date cut of Memento Mori! Featuring the voice talents of Link Stewart and Mystic Waterz, with background models by Carolina Rapp, this animatic is essentially the closest thing to the finalized version of the film that I'll be publishing. I want the final look to be a surprise, after all!

Here are the most-recent beatboards for Memento Mori! Done in August 2024, these lay out the 6 core beats of the story: the establishing shot, Dead Human Walking's demise, their confrontation with their own afterlife (3 and 4), their conflict with Red, and finally, the finale, where they wake up in the hospital bed. The style isn't reflective of the final product; this was an exploration in colour palettes, which is why Dead Human Walking's dress colour changes after panel 2; I decided a nice, deep blue would play better with their skin tone and help them stand out from the background.

These were also drawn pretty much the minute my surgeon cleared me to draw post-surgery, so they're a little rough, haha.
