James Marshall “Jimi” Hendrix (born Johnny Allen Hendrix; November 27, 1942 – September 18, 1970). He had a short mainstream career, but it was filled with memorable songs and performances for only a brief period. I’m amazed at how effortless and casual it seemed as he played his guitar. He made this complex sound with the strumming of his fingers. Jimi Hendrix is one of the most influential artists. Hendrix is the go-to for black “rock musicians,” which is understandable. Hendrix has earned every posthumous award and accolade he has received. I like how his band, The Experience and Band of Gypys, was a three-piece band; this allowed him to play a more prominent sound without a rhythm guitarist. Hendrix is arguably one of the greatest guitarists who ever lived. Most folks have personal stories about how he affected their life as musicians or fans. I have a faux vintage T-shirt that I wear during the summer months. He helped shape the genres of psychedelic rock, blues rock, and heavy metal, and he was a showman as a musician. He is one of the most influential artists in music.
