One thing that is often not touched upon with the portrayal of Psychics in media is that many Pokemon have mental processes that can be heard as well. I’d like to specify mental processes rather than thoughts. To say thoughts is misleading because most would assume that I mean to say that all Pokemon think with words. This is untrue. Most Pokemon do not use words or complete sentences. Some may think in single words or phrases that they picked up from their trainers and have associated with a certain meaning, such as “walk” or “ball” or the concept of their own name. Some are more coherent in their thoughts than others. But I find communication with Psychic types to be the easiest because they are typically quick to adopt the languages they hear around them.

All of this is to say: Today I passingly thought about adding salt to my breakfast, and as I look for the salt shaker I find Matador holding it in his hand about to offer it to me. He looks down at his hand and thinks to himself, “I could not do this if I were a Ceruledge.”

I… suppose he could not, no.

What are your psychic abilities if you dont mind me asking?

…Receiving an ask like this feels strange. I have never believed that I would be entertaining such a question of my own will, let alone the idea of being asked this by anyone who was not a psychic themselves. I find myself unsure of how to feel about this.

Nevertheless, I suppose there is no harm in answering.

Before I begin, I believe it is important that I preface this by establishing that not all psychics are created equal. While some abilities— such as telepathy and telekinesis— are fairly common amongst psychics, they are not guaranteed. There are a myriad of factors that can affect or determine one’s capabilities: genetics, guidance in learning, physical and mental health, frequency of practice, etc.

Baring this in mind, I will move forwards and list the abilities I am aware of. I am willing to go into greater depth of the specifics of said abilities if prompted.

Telepathy

Precognition

A trait unique to our family in which very vague memories are passed down.

Well, that explains the pillow training incident back and forth conversation feeling off to me. Gotta compliment you on your ability to keep your cover logically consistent. Handy skill.

Lying is an important skill to have as a hidden psychic. Frankly, I am more out of my element speaking publicly about it than I am keeping quiet.

i now have the basics of precognition which means tori is gonna help me with teleportation sometime soonish!!

so fair in my training i have:

telekinesis - the basics down!!

telepathy - the basics down!!

precognition - the basics down!!

clairvoyance - still being worked. but not with tori. cause she cant do that. nearly there with the basics though i think!!

compulsion - nearly have it down!! tbh its not that hard, i just need a little more practice.

teleportation - not started.
