Ponte' della Conoscenza: Chapter 1
Before existence began, there was no time for substance to exist in. That being said, it goes to reason, nothing existed. At the point of the Big Bang, or, a big bang, time began in the form of dimension. A form in which it still holds today. We move through 4 known, or sensible, dimensions of space-time (in semi-mathematical terms); the "long" dimension (length), the "wide" dimension (width), the "high" dimension (height), and the dimension of time. What sets time apart from the other currently testable dimensions is that it only seem to go one way, and we are always moving through it. Imagine holding a cube, and moving it slowly in one direction. The cube itself consists of length, width, and height, and moves through time.
In the same way there was no length, width, or height, before the Big Bang, no space, there was no time. Therefor, in the sense of the universe we currently know, there was no before the beginning. If other universes preceded ours, they would consist of their own space-time. And if they still exist, they still do. For the time being, our attention is inexplicably directed at our own universe and existence, and to what happened before now, and the "beginning". Not only what happened, but how, when, and why. Humans across the Earth have many separated, conflicting, volatile, and ever changing views on how the universe around us was created, and why. Many of these view points are based in science, and many others through Religion and Spirituality. Conflict is abound between these areas of thought. Science refutes Religion, Religion denies science, Spiritualism is scoffed at by science, but is both praised and ridiculed by religion. Spirituality is a huge factor in all religions, but is denied if it lacks clear religious form, or is a part of any other religion and general.
It is only fair to compare these three sects of thought in certain ways. They all have their own separate purposes, and they all conflict on some level. Religion offers comforts from the harsh reality that is, well, reality. It gives humans purpose, a group to associate with, and the comfort that a creator of one kind or another, is watching and protecting them. Science offers knowledge, technology, health, and a modern way to view creation. Spirituality offers many of the same things as religion. Comfort, moral support, socialization, and satisfaction. The difference being, there is not always a need for a "god". Spiritualists engage in many rituals and personal paths that are in many ways fused with Science, and Religion, and in some ways, could be a beneficial glue for the two. The Writer views it's thoughts of creation and existence in pseudo-spiritualistic way, that is lead by the laws of reality and science. It believe it is imperative to not separate science and spirituality, for they can be one and the same. The beauty of nature, space, and even the sky can be emotionally toughing, and pulls at you on a seemingly "spiritual" level. The beauty of it originates from the reality that created it. It's not a force above us or a god who makes this beautiful, it is your mind and the universe itself, which in reality, are one and the same. When you view the sunrise, the exquisite beauty of it is striking. It's easy to believe it was created that way intentionally, but all it is is light Sol reflecting and refracting through the air molecules in the sky, at a differing angle than when Sol was prominent. Now more than just the most reflective color in air, blue, is visible. This light bounces off molecules through the air until it reaches your eye, or more accurately your eye catches it, then it reflects out, Once "caught", the light has created an "upside-down" image to send to your brain. Your brain creates the color, flips the image, fills in the blanks, and your mind perceives it. After you perceive it, your brain then reaction with emotional stimuli. Chemicals are released, memories are brought forward, and a seemingly spiritual moment has occurred. There is notion truly spiritual about it, but that does make it any less beautiful, you see? What's not absolutely amazing about all this occurring, seemingly at once, without your conscious knowledge, and evoking such strong feelings. It's science that gives us spirituality, and spirituality, that allows us to appreciate science.
