WHY BLOGGING SUCKS
Blogging is a wonderful activity that for some reason, I struggle with. I actually feel like I was much more consistent with blogging, when I was completely clueless about the whole blogging scene.
Back when I first started with Blogger in 2003, with my first blog Lionheart, Https://lionheartrealm.blogspit.com.
In fact, that very blog is still active and is gaining more visitors, each day. I mean, just looking at the visitor counter on the page, it's up in the tens of thousands! I can't even access this page anymore, and it's still very successful!
During that time, when I first started Lionheart, I feel it was easier because I wasn't thinking about being a successful blogger. I was just thinking about being a successful occultist. Which grabbed the attention of other sites like PaganPages.org and LuminEarth.com, both asked me to contribute to their websites as a writer after reading my material on Lionheart, which I did gladly, not even understanding the value of these opportunities.
That was back in 2003. Can you believe it? I was still in high school at the time! I graduated high school with honors in 2007!
Lionheart was even featured on some impressive sites as well. Such as Papers In The Attic, a personal favorite site of mine with content about the Necronomicon! Which is a favorite topic magically speaking. I was thrilled and honored that Papers In The Attic had 1) read my blog and 2) wanted to feature my blog on their site!
I feel that my consistency with blogging began to fade, when I tried to do silly things I thought people wanted to see. Like daily tarot readings and regular daily content posts about stuff that wasn't even interesting, which is not me. It was not how I did my original posts. I worked on what I was actually writing about, not trying to come up with material that wasn't there.
As a side bit here, I have discovered through the years that it's better to just do a weekly Tarot post, or if you must do a daily thing it should just be a summarized update, like a status update instead of trying to spread it into a whole blog post. If not that, then added with other daily statuses, like the astrology of the day and whatnot.
Also, I started trying to become a successful blogger. I was, you know, trying to be something, whereas before I simply was doing, and I was working on the material that I was writing about and so there was plenty of content to use because of it. There was plenty of experience to pull from to post about I didn't have to sit and try to come up with solutions for what to blog about, I was doing the things I blogged at that time. The purity of my intent was in my writing is what made Lionheart my best blog.
I simply wanted to share my experiences studying and practicing magic, Wicca and the occult, just as my blog description stated. People found value in that, and the consistency just came with it.
Funny, how we can learn a lot from our earlier works when we are the most clueless on what we are doing seems to be when we are the most successful at it. Though we are unaware of just how well we are doing due to the inexperience and really due to not being afraid to go the distance and let the material speak for itself. How wise we can be in our naivete. How we can learn from the fearless ignorance of our younger selves.
There is a major bit of irony here, but I feel it would be redundant to try and point it out. So we'll just leave it as it is in this moment, and move on.
The lesson here is that things don't always get better the more we advance in our knowledge. That built up knowledge can get in the way of our original vision and convolute our true message. We often forget our intent for why we even began the things we're doing.
When that happens, an easy fix is to go back to the beginning. To the source of where we began, and immerse ourselves in our original successes, analyzing what was working and apply it to our new problems today.
As with my own blogging difficulties, the answer was easy. I needed to see that I was trying to be something I already am. A great blogger and a passionate writer. That I need to do more of what I am, not get confused with trying to be which only leads to getting nothing done because of it.
To sum this up. If you feel you are losing touch with your work, it's probably because you are. So connect with yourself yet again, and remember your vision for why you started the project to begin with. You can do this by reviewing your earlier work and comparing it with your recent work. You will notice all the differences between then and now. Whether there's something that you lost along the way...
...Or perhaps you can be inspired again by what your original vision was. Your original insight and drive that nothing can pull you away from. That first truth your heart and work inspired within you that helped you discover your true self. Don't lose sight of that.
