Chapter 47, TBT Steampunk Chronicles

047 The bitterness of spring

 Lina hated spring. Oh yes.

She hated it.

Sighing she watched her crewmates bustle around. Thomas at the helm, stern and tired. Robin, who hadn't slept in three days was rushing around the damaged ship. The major battle was on the horizon now. They needed to be prepared. Another year she thought silently, and they’d  be ready to go. Jared was up in the crows nest once more. beaming in the sunlight.

While the rest of them hadn’t slept he seemed to be flourishing without sleep. It was kinda weird. Art was Morose without sleep, and Lina hoped he would be out of their next course of action.

Which was to meet with a new ally.

it was stressful, ally’s were hard to come by in this war. She only hoped Thomas could sway them to their side. Grimacing she looked out into the sunny distance and stiffened. Pointing she yelled to Thomas.

“Ahead of us!.”

Thomas nodded.

Pulling in close to the other ship, he let it idle, as Robin pulled up the boardwalk between both sky ships. The crew stiffened and waited for the ally crew to meet. This was not what they were expecting.

As the captain entered onto their ship. They blinked.

The man was wearing a kilt. He had long flowing brown hair, and a neck beard. He carried a shield along his back. He walked onto the ship with a grin.

“Good evening chaps!”

Thomas waved. “I like your skirt.”

He reeled back. “Excuse me!?”

“Its a skirt captain.” A girl spoke, rolling her eyes. She popped her gum. Holding out her hand she shook Thomas’s hand.

“Cammy at your service.” She grinned. Motioning the girl next to her forward. “This is Sam.” They looked a lot a like, except Sam was taller than Cammy.

The Captain gave a stunning smile. “My name is Jake!” He grinned.

Thomas blinked. He sure was happy.

Jake stood with his chest popped out. “I hear you're looking for allies.” He smirked his eyes glittering. “I’M EXACTLY WHO YOU'RE LOOKING FOR!” He raised his fist a fire in his eyes. Cammy slapped her forehead.

“Oh goodness.”

Thomas grinned. “I LIKE YOU SIR! BE MY ALLY.”

“AS YOU WISH.”

“HOHOHO! I KNEW I’D FIND A CAPTAIN WITH MY SENSIBILITIES.”

“OH YES!” Soon Jake and Thomas were laughing and joking in a really weird way.

Robin edged away, as Jared Soon gathered Cammy and Sam into the living room. “Dont worry about our captain.” He said shrugging his shoulders.

“No, don’t worry about ours.” Sam said with a groan. Lina shrugged, walking away from the two captains. Art shortly followed. Robin watched as the two captains bantered back and forth and felt strange.

This was to weird.

No one should wear skirts.

Although it was spring….

She shrugged wasn’t her problem.
