How to study & prepare National Physical Therapy Examination
Choosing a career line to earn living is the fundamental concern of all. There are numerous vocations but one has to judge his/her inclination for the right job that would bring peace and prosperity. Physiotherapy is one domain that is rewarding in terms of both peace of mind and financial security. Physiotherapy is associated with the power of healing. Patient's physical ailments and pains are alleviated and their muscle movement is maximized using manual therapy, therapeutic exercises and electro-physical modalities. It doesn't matter if you have completed a master or doctor of physical therapy, you must pass the Physiotherapist Exam to become a fully qualified and licensed practitioner. The Physiotherapist Exam is given by the Federation of National Physical Therapy Examination and is designed to determine if you have the minimum required knowledge to safely practice physical therapy. If you don't pass the Physical Therapy Exam you can't practice, so here is what you need to do to make it easy.
STEP 1: Familiarize Yourself: The Physical Therapy Exam is a 5 hour computer based exam that consists of 5 sections, each containing 50 multiple choice questions. You are marked on how many questions you answer correctly and do not get penalized if you answer incorrectly. To pass you will need to score more than 600 out of a possible 800. If you fail you can retake the exam 3 times in a 12 month period. You can find all this information in detail through the Candidate Hand Book.
STEP 2: Register: Contact the licensing authority in the state or jurisdiction in which you want to practise then go to the Npteff website to register. There are deadlines for application and set dates to take the exam, so be sure to check the dates.
So the actual score you get on your PT licensure exam doesn't really matter as long as you pass but I did really well and got a 759 out of 800 and just had to tell someone so there y'all go fun fact of your day.
Passed last year’s exam. With an 84%. According to research, that means I have like a 99.7% chance of passing my exam on Wednesday.
Doesn’t mean I’m gonna stop studying, but it does mean maybe I’ll be able to sleep the night before.
Studying, Day 9: Hurray! Got to talk to my best friend on the phone for an hour!
...shit. I’m an hour behind.
Studying day 8: only had to struggle through 9 pages instead of 25. Telling myself I'll study more later. Actually probably gonna watch Leverage all day.
Day 7 of studying: is it better to just take a nap and then keep going if all you can think about is wanting to take a nap?
Studying day 5: my brain has spent all morning learning about itself. And it’s none too happy about it.
