Transgender Wellness Conference here we come!
I’ve been processing the shame I have carried regarding the parts of me that are feminine. I truly believe it stems from internalized transphobia and misogyny - which comes from a rhetoric I’ve been fed by a society that has constantly debated the validity of my gender. Internal work is rough, yo. Leaning into my trauma is terrifying. Especially being in a place where there is no community or space that can offer me safety. I am so grateful for the education I am privileged to be receiving. And for opportunities like The Philadelphia Trans Wellness Conference. Looking forward to a space that can facilitate uninhibited understanding and acceptance. Who will I see there? I hope it’s you! Also, thanks for joining my tumblr therapy session.
Today has been info overload! This is such an exciting, validating, supportive place to be, for trans people and cis allies! I brought a notebook, but so far I've been too overwhelmed to take more than a quick note on my phone, and follow (so many) new people on Instagram.
Excited for the next few days. If it is within your means, I absolutely recommend the Philadelphia Transgender Wellness Conference as a resource for anyone looking to connect with people, healthcare, social justice, etc.
I am planning on sharing more info as I process, though pictures are banned from the majority of the convention center (for safety purposes) so it will mostly my interpretation of the info.
