Gap Filler is a creative urban regeneration initiative that facilitates a wide range of temporary projects, events, installations and amenities in the city.
This project is temporary small compared to other permanent development, which are less risky. Not only that but it opens up opportunities in trying out new ideas, adopting participatory process in involving people in creating their city and pushing social boundaries [1]. Communities, architect, artists, students, dancers, engineers, landowner and anyone with a creative idea in activating city spaces for a short period of time are involved in this project.
This project have shown that by recycling materials and working collaboratively with suppliers, fostering volunteer power and being creative indicated that cities around the world does not have to depend on developments that are large done by private or public sectors [1]. This just goes to show that when communities work together and in unity they can create amazing developments which it can be beneficial for the community.
Ultimately, Gap Filler aims to innovate, lead and nurture people and ideas; contributing to conversations about city-making and urbanism in the 21st century.[1]
