I do think at some point the city would want to connect the streetcars.
-Mayor Ed Murray, talking to PubliCola about the possibility of building the missing link that would connect the existing South Lake Union and under-construction First Hill streetcars.
Nothing revvs our engines like the dream of a fully connected streetcar system for Seattle. Linking the city's growing employment and residential centers in with one route helps to create the most comprehensive systems providing the most options for rider. Transit ridership is at a national all time high, and growth is not likely to slow.
Of course there'll be big decisions to make about alignment and stop placement and funding and all of that wonk stuff, but it's good to see Murray showing some forward thinking and dropping pro-transit sentiments.
Party-pooper Tom Rasmussen can go rain on someone else's parade.
Oh yes, the connection will be ours.
