Saturdayz by Wesley Dayley
In the back corner of Jenkins Dorm at Delaware State, there is a small four-cornered room with cerulean colored walls. An illustrated drawing of Aaliyah with her body exaggerated with a disproportionate torso sits between an anorexic black frame. Under, a hunched over, thin, bearded Wesley Dayley is confined in a cloud of thick marijuana smoke, glasses gleaming towards a computer screen, beside a stack of comics and over-due library books and his USB piano with 48 keys. He is far away from his home in Silver Spring, MD, and his collective Publik Theory.
He is far from the public eye, being that he and Publik Theory have been on a year hiatus from music and communication via social network. Yet he arrives with new music to give the long awaited fans. Catering to his spiritual animal, “Sun Bear”, Wesley Dayley will be presenting The BlueHoney Mix on April 21st, which is a bundle of instrumentals inspired by artists Aaliyah, Erykah Badu, Alicia Keys and more. His instrumental tape, "dayMetamor[F]osis" is scheduled to appear in the summer of 2015. Until then, Wesley will go back into his cave to experiment with sound, digital art and photography while representing Sol, and Ursism as SunBear.
