A lamp powered by blood is called a miracle and a legend powered by blood is called a church. I am not against anything not even infinity. I just don't want to be made to watch.

I am actually still deciding if I am going to stick with language, its tongue and teeth are so peopled and I feel the universe is trying to ask me something else through rings on the ceiling, heat, nameless fruit that drops through the window.

It is dangerous to grow accustomed to a garden. Just when the flowers soften you, they disappear. Then you are a weepy fern among skyscrapers.
Melissa Broder, “I Give A Convincing Sermon,” from Scarecrone
When I was born a man died wheezing to make room for me on the green islands over the ocean. I see him in the mirror and repeat I did not choose still a choke grows inside me so brittle it is a bush. I don't want to see any more of god's green factory.
Melissa Broder, “Haunt,” from Scarecrone
My heart has nine chambers. One of them contains a mirror. The other eight I do not remember ever being inside.

This is a fire, a fire of learning to die. Fuel the fire with no objects specific to one generation just a pyre of sitting in the collected whispers of all who have lived. Allow them to frighten you with their having passed and still keep sitting. Don't reach for any clothes or tattoos, you are always naked anyway and yes you do have angel wings that grow heavy with love sometimes. Love is all the time if you are quiet. How much are you quiet?

TIMOTHY WILLIS SANDERS
Bio: Timothy Willis Sanders is the author of Orange Juice and Other Stories (Publishing Genius, 2010) and Matt Meets Vik (CCM, 2014). His work has appeared in Muumuu House, Hobart and VICE. He lives in Austin, Texas.
What writing are you working on currently?
A novel that takes place in the south in the late 90s about nine teenage boys who attend the same high school. Seems to be a lack of books that capture the 90s in an honest way.
You previously wrote a story collection called Orange Juice, which is funny and sparse and emotionally dramatic, all at the same time. You also released a novel (Matt and Vik), which details a relationship with a lot of references to digital technology and sex. How is your new work changing from or related to those stylistically or thematically?
The new work will feature more distinct characters and it won’t focus on one romantic relationship. As far as style, that’s really determined by the story for me, but it will still be mostly focused on the thoughts and actions of the characters, and contain little or no backstory. I like dropping people into other people’s lives.
When and where do you do writing most often? Who do you usually have read your writing?
I write in my little office at home, early in the morning from about 7-8am. I actually don’t let anyone read anything before I consider it done. Mostly because I’m too embarrassed (it’s like giving someone homework) but also, I think if I have to have someone else confirm how I feel about the work then I already know how I feel. I let people read when I know I won’t care what they think. That doesn’t mean I don’t respond, or don’t respond well, to feedback. It’s just my goal in writing is to move myself, not to move someone else. If that happens though, great.
What books have you read recently and liked a lot and why?
Sarah Manguso’s “Two Kinds of Decay”; Manguso is a clear, 21st century voice.
What is your day-to-day “work life” like? Do you like it?
I do. But it’s a work life where I get to write, so it’s ok. I’d rather not work but I like having money for food, clothes, etc.

Hi tumblr!
How are you today?
Did you know that LEFT has been available for preorder for two whole weeks now?
That means there’s only two weeks left (hehe) get it at the discounted price!
Also, thanks to the help of Adam Robinson of Publishing Genius, shipping to the US just got a lot cheaper =D
If you’re at all interested in the project I really encourage you to preorder it. It’s my favourite thing I’ve ever made and the more preorders I get, the more copies I can afford to print, the more widely I can distribute it, the more beauty there will be in the world.
At the moment I’m working as hard as I can to get reviews and other coverage in cool places. Like the Shabby Doll House Reader:
I have a few more cool things lined up that I’ll be able to show you soon but if you have any ideas for other ways to promote LEFT please get in touch with me at [email protected]
I love you all very much <3
