Russell had to admit that he was rather unnerved by this stranger knowing his name without him saying it. Was this just a regular mind reader, or something else?

Best proceed with caution.

"Uh, yeah, that's, that's uh, that's me," Russell said, with a brief nod.

Oh, he didn't like the sound of that either. He had seen plenty of movies and read plenty of books to know that wishes could be subverted in cruel ways, or the payment was much more than the wish might have been worth. So this was some kind of genie, or a spirit?

"I'm uh, I'm all good. I'm not, not making any wishes right now, sir, just, just trucking along," Russell said, "But uh, seeing as you're in our cafe and it's my job to provide menu items, would, would you like to order anything?"

So you're a wizard, are you? May I just say that your demon is insufferable? Perhaps it's because he had your heart with him too long. I think your emotions rubbed off on him.

The wizard regarded the man with a sad, almost indifferent smile. It would seem he had some former encounters with dear old Calcifer, and the fact that the fire demon was involved was not too surprising. There is this thing about fire demons, you have to be careful with them since they tend to always cause trouble. But this was the first time someone accused Calcifer of showing emotions.

“I’m afraid I have to deny that. It is hard to believe it were my emotions that have rubbed off on him. Though, I could have a hunch as to who might be responsible for this matter.“ His memories run free only for a second before he came back to the matters at hand. “You seem to know quite a bit about me, though I do not know who you are. I think you will not mind telling me.“
