Can you explain to me what’s happening here?
It's a flashback triggered by Mary's sister asking if she's ever seen a fairy before. Truth is, she has, and that fairy was seen standing over the crib of her baby shortly after Dana was born. Plenty of old folklore about changelings has scenes like this as foreshadowing for what happened to the children.
It's pretty strong evidence of your kid being replaced by a changeling, which is why Mary doesn't say it to her sister, who just presumes the silence as admittance that she hasn't seen a fairy before.
However, that means Mary's decision to accept her daughter after seeing her talk to birds has way more weight to it, since she had more reason beyond ableist beliefs to think her daughter was a fairy.
How does Cult of the Lamb work? And what's your favorite spider and favorite spider behavior?
It's a game where you're a cult leader separated into two distinct styles of gameplay: roguelike combat and base building (idk the genre name). You build your cult base and go on expeditions. Expeditions give you resources to expand your cult. Expand your cult to give you benefits when on expeditions. It's a very addictive loop.
As for favorite spider, I am not immune to the alluring dance of the peacock spider.

Narilamb is mostly just funny to me, and my inclusion of it in the No Will AU was for specifically plot reasons.

This is before any of the bishops have been revived. Isolation is a core theme for all the characters in the No Will AU and I felt like minimizing the amount of crown wielders helped with that.
