Earth Planet Hikarabita [Erd]

An arid planet inhabited by togemoguras [spiny moles] and robots. Once prosperous with spaceports and such, the robots now guard the ruins left over from that civilization.

Water Planet Rigu-Maha [Cassia]

A planet of water where the otter tribe lives. Everyone used to live in peace, but nowadays, it appears some otters have become astro pirates who commit evil deeds across many places.

Wind Planet Kotton [Puffoon]

A planet where urban civilization flourishes. It is inhabited by humans who boast scientific prowess, and a tribe of rabbit folk from ancient times. There is the Royal Palace, the heart of politics, as well as the Space Police, the cornerstone of law.

Wood Planet Kaopita [Gren]

A lush green planet where nyamnelts [felins] and salamanders live. As of late, the astro pirates have come to reside here, and it has grown considerably unsafe.

Fire Planet Raguafo [Razen]

A scorching hot planet which lies closest to the Tarotaro [Baklava] sun. The potfolk village and dwarves' factory are situated here.

Magical Starsign - Japanese planet name origins

In the Japanese version of Magical Starsign, many characters' and locations' names are anadromes, or words that are flipped backwards (e.g., "stressed" -> "desserts"). Some names don't follow this convention, but are still interesting nonetheless!

コヴォマカ Kovomaka, from かまぼこ kamaboko (processed seafood product)

Erd = ヒカラブータ Hikarabīta, from ひからびた hikarabita (dried up)

Cassia = リグ・マハ Rigu Maha, from はまぐり hamaguri (clam)

Puffoon = コットン Kotton, from とんこつ tonkotsu (pork bone ramen)

Gren = カオピター Kaopitā, from タピオカ tapioka (tapioca)

Razen = ラグアフォー Raguafō, from フォアグラ foagura (fois gras)

Nova = シャリィ Sharī, from ぎんしゃり gin shari (slang term for white rice)

Shadra = ロマシュマ Romashuma, from マシュマロ mashumaro (marshmallow)

SIDE NOTES:

Kovomaka is the only planet that wasn't renamed. The reason it comes from かまぼこ kamaboko is because "B" and "V" sounds are interchangeable in Japanese; in the case of the name "Kovomaka," ぼ bo becomes ヴォ vo.

Puffoon's name could also come from "cotton" since it's the wind planet. But when とんこつ tonkotsu is rendered in katakana (トンコツ tonkotsu), the ツ tsu character can become ッ, which accentuates a following consonant sound, hence コットン Kotton.

Just a note in case you get confused:

Yes, I tag both the planets and the team by the planet names.

No, that is not an error on my part. I call the members of the team by the name of their planet. I personally think it would cause less confusion since not everyone would use/know the default names of the characters, and by using the planet names, you can correlate planet element to character element and say “Hey, Puffoon is referring to Lassi/(name you entered for Lassi)!”
