Awww, YEAH! This! This is the kind of candles I’m talking about! 100% form over function! Painted and everything, obviously meant to just be for decoration rather than the actual function as a candle. Just cheaper to make than porcelain.
Who would even burn this, if they like dogs? Who would buy it, if they don’t like pugs?
So let’s light up this bitch and see how it looks actually burning and melting, when obviously meant to just be a cheap display.
I’ll say, I’m mixed on the impression. Sure it’s a cute head. But I’m rather disturbed by the visual of a dog with a grand flame on the top of its head.
And it’s a pretty tall flame too! Look at that, wowzies! Didn’t stay like this for too long, but did so for a while at the start.
The paint used for details on the simple wax had the added effect of making the flame make a bit of noise upon burning. And caused some black smoke.
Hard to see on the photo, try and squint. Was quite visible to the naked eye though. Didn’t smell super bad or anything, but you could still smell it plenty. Of course this was only in effect whenever the painted areas had direct contact to the head. Bits of it just pooled in the melted wax without causing problems.
Good steady flame, this was a regular wax, not too heavy nor too light. Didn’t melt so fast it made a lot of a mess, although the ears kept me worried.
Ahahahahahah, for some reason this amuses me. Just look at that!
As it melts down, the ears droop more and more outwards, but never dropping. Still no spill. Good long burn time, had this going over two runs. Gathered I think the full burn time was about 13 or so hours.
Been a few spills, mostly caused by me poking at the ears. Ears still staying on, but the movement caused a few leaks. But nothing outside the plate there to catch it. The snout staying intact although slowly deflating as the whole candle sinks.
As usual, Imma keep this out until it burns out on its own, or the wick just drops over in the hot wax. Not as huge a flame as the start, but flame still burning quite tall. Just look at that. With the outer paint left on parts no longer in direct contact with the melty wax and flame, no more black smoke. Just droopy.
And it’s dead, Jim.
These are the kind of candles I wanna see burn. Things clearly meant to just look nice and decorative, never meant to be burned. I wanna see how it falls apart.
It had a good run time, a strong flame. Relatively safe with minimum spill until the end. I highly doubt anyone buying this for decoration because they love pugs would enjoy actually watching it burn. Look at that droopy mess. And dog haters wouldn’t get much of a kick either, with how long it takes for it to burn.
Was fun though.
