thank u tasting history for the 350 year old pumpion pie recipe!!
what a strange looking and beautiful creation. always a pleasure to interpret a historical document. we did so with no eggs or wheat flour and opted for granny smith apples for the base of the pie and an herb blend of rosemary, parsley &thyme. unfortunately no currants because i made it on the spur of a sunday evening and couldn’t find any. but those core ingredients of the pumpkin (sliced thin and fried), tart apples, sweet raisins and aromatic herbs built a deeply delicious autumnal dish.
an idea workshopped for a dinner party...think it will definitely make an appearance.
