I took a video of my splitting the pumpkin open, so here it goes! But use both hands to split the pumpkin otherwise you'll have one half falling at the grace of gravity and it might fly off the counter... speaking from personal expirence....

Time to slice! Nothin personal boo, but I gotta get that pumpkin purée. So notice I flipped the pumpkin onto the flat side I cut, giving my pumpkin and myself a more stable position to cut.

Gertrude’s getting a little off the top today, that stem just wasn’t her color. But anyway! Start off by taking the stem off, along with enough of the tip that you have a flat section to turn your pumpkin onto, that way it doesn’t rock around when you’re cutting it in half.

Alright, so we've got a towel down, to help keep our cutting board; in this case it's a cookie sheet because I don't have a large enough cutting board; but the towel helps keep our cutting board from sliding around. Here's Gertrude again, lemon balanced on top for another size comparison. She's a brick house.
