Ooh gotcha. I have a hard time seeing this last in the long run without the need to “randomly target” individuals to make sure they’re not loitering, or end up with lost revenue for the theater due to people sneaking in.

The same was done for a movie theater I went to. Your theater was most likely sold out. When that happens, since the seats are reserved, they know anyone comes in has a seat assigned. If someone tries to sneak in, they’ll be taking someone else’s seat who will complain. This made me curious too so thought I’d just past it along! ��

I meant the building itself, rather than the individual theater. I’ve never seen people in front of the doors checking to see if someone purchased a ticket for that particular movie/time. There’s usually a queue separating the ticket area from the inside of the theater, where a worker validates that you have a ticket to enter (and splits your ticket in two for some reason...) Their absence could be because I attended a matinee on a low-attendance day. (Or they happened to be short one worker today.)
