no, there is a LOT of reasons to say no. for instance, and if it wasn't clear in the beginning: hyuuga is convinced -more like, has tried to convince himself so hard since childhood- that he solely likes girls. as of lately hyuuga was having this irritating / nagging thought that basically was screaming at him 'but what if that isn't really the case'. it was a mini-crisis. since he was the captain, he should at least have experience in keeping calm and setting the example in stressful situations.

only now that wasn't the case anymore, because even as a captain, that didn't mean he was made of stone.

right now, the offer that was made with izuki in mind was because his best friend could act like a failsafe of sorts / because he knew izuki would not make a big deal out of this, he was too good for that. was that also inconsiderate of him? / did it look like he was taking advantage of izuki's goodwill? definitely. in the end, he was very much acting like an asshole with the person with whom he has shared more than 10 years of friendship. what an idiot he is.

before he could have another chance at insisting that it was fine and to suggest that they pretend this conversation never happened, izuki just seemed to further push it / very gently / which made hyuuga stiff at the kindness. unconsciously, he even backed away from izuki like it was a threat / like it was going to burn him. "are you sure-", eyes were doing their best to not look at the latter at all. how embarrassing this was. "are you sure it's fine?" last chance to back away. // @punandgun / cont.

"Oh, Izuki-senpai... Er, may I consult you on something?" Kagami asked as they were getting ready for practice in the locker room. "Koganei-senpai told me you have girls coming up to you every so often, so I figured you might be the best person to approach here. It's pretty damn embarrassing to ask about this, but... Basically, a girl left a note in my locker, and I've got no damn clue how to turn her down. I don't wanna make another girl cry, dammit! I’m seriously lost here..." Why’d it have to be him of all guys, too?!

Practices had been more intense as of late, Riko insisting on them getting extra training in before the Inter High preliminaries. The gym always seemed to be bustling the last few weeks, groups of two or three staying behind at night to practice their shots or defense or other moves, getting themselves into tip top shape. It made him proud, as captain to see them work so hard.

He hadn’t been slacking off either, staying to work on his threes, usually alone, but sometimes Riko or Kiyoshi or somebody would stick around to keep him company, but more often than not Izuki would stay, instead of breaking his figures he’d just tell him bad jokes if he missed, almost a better motivation than before.

His feelings were still confusing to him, but they seemed to be clearing up, ever so slowly. The feelings he’d previously had for Riko seemed to dissipate, the need to overly impress her gone, his heart no longer racing if she leaned in too close. Not that he didn’t care about her, he did, she was still one of his best friends, but that was about where his feelings ended. Instead, those kinds of things seemed to be present in Izuki’s presence.

Hyuuga took one last look around the gym before finally slipping into the locker room, the excitement and smell of sweat the only palpable things in it as everyone changed to leave. Hyuuga sat on one of the benches near his locker, lightly kicking the back of Izuki’s knee to get his attention as he took a swig from his water bottle. “Hey, I’m staying after tonight, you can stay if you want.” He offered. Luckily after their...incident and talk, they’d been able to talk normally again, although Hyuuga couldn’t say the same for his reactions sometimes...

“Do your dogs like you, Izuki? Of course they woof!” Kiyoshi chuckled a little at his own joke whilst continuing to ruffling the shaggy fur of the aforementioned person’s dog, thumb rubbing behind the thin membrane of another canine’s ear as he lifted his head in greeting to Izuki- having stopped here on his usual morning run. The dogs were nice and it was always nice to see a fellow teammate in the morning, Kiyoshi giving the pups one last ruffle with his hands before greeting the other.
