I’m sorry but the disability jokes Gabriel made are not as bad as treating everyone like shit and making a joke about someone having to kill their father who turned demonic or someone trying to get out of a society they didn’t ask to be in, oh and making a mockery of the person who tolerates them and has their back. the disability jokes as someone disabled aren’t even that bad. basically saying “what’s the point of marriage if Jem is about to die” yes, that is terrible but HES NOT WRONG. everyone knew that Tessa would go to Will as soon as Jem would die so it’s not like we weren’t all thinking. idk i feel like Jem and Tessa got bunched together and she doesn’t love Jem enough. she would choose Will over Jem any day.
Jessamine wanting to get the fuck out of shadowhunting is actually very valid. she didn’t ask to be there. shadowhunters as a species are really cruel making a child go be a shadowhunter or saying “hey you can’t see your family ever again so your choice.” that’s very brutal. Jem being made a mockery is plain distasteful but even worse when you remember that Jem doesn’t ask questions about Will. he tolerates him (and that’s why we tolerate Will) and his behavior. a lot of the time, Will just thinks about himself without thinking how his actions could affect others. oh and saying that the only reason a man could like your sister is only for revenge purposes is also extremely weird and wild. I don’t think Cecily was angry enough.
Gabriel and Gideon get introduced as “villains” YET WE HAVE YET TO SEE THEIR VILLAINOUS BEHAVIOR. Gideon cussing in Spanish is not that scary. you can say he’s evil but if you don’t fucking show us, how the fuck are we to know? Gideon gave Charlotte more support in half a book than Will gave in three books. Gideon is such a fucking angel.
Will telling his sister to leave and then say that Gabriel only likes her to get revenge is also disgusting. “this man couldn’t actually like you, it’s about me” Cecily should’ve drop kicked him and threw him across the institute 🗣️
Jessamine isn’t a bad character or person. she literally get thrown into a world she didn’t consent to be in. everyone saying she doesn’t do what is required like SHE DOESNT WANT TO BE THERE. trying to make her seem extra by wanting to live in a mundane society isn’t terrible.
Tessa also views women kind of weird. thinking Sophie would be more beautiful if she didn’t have a mark on her face. SOPHIE IS ALREADY FUCKING BEAUTIFUL. thinking that jessamine is extra or dramatic because she doesn’t want to participate in shadowhunter society isn’t terrible. it’s actually valid she doesn’t want that life.
Gabriel isn’t terrible either. he wanted to trust his father, he’s still a teenager if people forgot. he’s been accustomed to his life and while Gideon is trying to help his brother, it’s hard to see what’s in front of you. so Will can go leave his home, right after his older sister dies, and be rude to everyone for years and it’s okay? Gabriel is way too villainized. reminds me of Alastair honestly. hating this man for basically breathing. oh, and remember that this fued started was because Will was rude to Tatiana (Gabriel’s sister) and Gabriel tried to protect her so he ended up punching Will. why and how does that get Gabriel on the villain list? I swear a Lightwood could breathe and CC would find a way to make them the “bad guy”.
the way Will treats Sophie and Charlotte and we’re supposed to accept it? I know maids were usually told to accept any abusive behavior but they shouldn’t. we don’t know what Will said or did to Sophie but Sophie literally straight up told Tessa, he’s a bad seed. do not trust this bitch. Sophie gets such disservice especially with Tessa trying to hop into her love life as if she has some right. YA DONT.

the stuff all these characters do are not as bad as what Will does but he’s the main character and an ancestor of Jace so he gets away with toxic, abusive, and insulting behavior and it’s a okay. thank you Woosley Scott and Jem Carstairs for beating Will up. your service does not go unnoticed, I promise 🖤🖤🖤
