“you think she’s pretty” Jem says to Will about Tessa and he avoids the topic. Jem sees what Will doesn’t say. there is nothing serious that is said in that conversation. Jem blaming himself once he and Tessa are no more ENRAGES ME. I feel bad that Jem blames himself that he and Tessa almost married. (it reminds me of Matthew apologizing for liking Cordelia when she’s with James.) JEM JEM, THAT IS NOT YOUR FAULT OR BURDEN TO CARRY. the fact that Will could do the most heinous thing to Jem and Jem would turn around and blame himself. this is why after Will finds out about his fake curse is some of the worst writing done in TID. Jem shouldn’t be feeling any remorse for anything. he is a fucking angel. the fact that Will was treating everyone like shit and then everyone is “aw, he’s been through a lot” that doesn’t erase what he’s done. Jem and Tessa in TID always leaves a bad taste in my mouth, especially when Tessa seems to be more in love with Will. you’ve got Jem Carstairs on your arm and you don’t even care??? how everyone accepts Wills behavior is INSANE. Jem feeling any guilt for feelings he has yet Will gets almost everyone’s sympathy? fucking exhausting and insulting.

I’m sorry but the disability jokes Gabriel made are not as bad as treating everyone like shit and making a joke about someone having to kill their father who turned demonic or someone trying to get out of a society they didn’t ask to be in, oh and making a mockery of the person who tolerates them and has their back. the disability jokes as someone disabled aren’t even that bad. basically saying “what’s the point of marriage if Jem is about to die” yes, that is terrible but HES NOT WRONG. everyone knew that Tessa would go to Will as soon as Jem would die so it’s not like we weren’t all thinking. idk i feel like Jem and Tessa got bunched together and she doesn’t love Jem enough. she would choose Will over Jem any day.

Jessamine wanting to get the fuck out of shadowhunting is actually very valid. she didn’t ask to be there. shadowhunters as a species are really cruel making a child go be a shadowhunter or saying “hey you can’t see your family ever again so your choice.” that’s very brutal. Jem being made a mockery is plain distasteful but even worse when you remember that Jem doesn’t ask questions about Will. he tolerates him (and that’s why we tolerate Will) and his behavior. a lot of the time, Will just thinks about himself without thinking how his actions could affect others. oh and saying that the only reason a man could like your sister is only for revenge purposes is also extremely weird and wild. I don’t think Cecily was angry enough.

Gabriel and Gideon get introduced as “villains” YET WE HAVE YET TO SEE THEIR VILLAINOUS BEHAVIOR. Gideon cussing in Spanish is not that scary. you can say he’s evil but if you don’t fucking show us, how the fuck are we to know? Gideon gave Charlotte more support in half a book than Will gave in three books. Gideon is such a fucking angel.

Will telling his sister to leave and then say that Gabriel only likes her to get revenge is also disgusting. “this man couldn’t actually like you, it’s about me” Cecily should’ve drop kicked him and threw him across the institute 🗣️

Jessamine isn’t a bad character or person. she literally get thrown into a world she didn’t consent to be in. everyone saying she doesn’t do what is required like SHE DOESNT WANT TO BE THERE. trying to make her seem extra by wanting to live in a mundane society isn’t terrible.

Tessa also views women kind of weird. thinking Sophie would be more beautiful if she didn’t have a mark on her face. SOPHIE IS ALREADY FUCKING BEAUTIFUL. thinking that jessamine is extra or dramatic because she doesn’t want to participate in shadowhunter society isn’t terrible. it’s actually valid she doesn’t want that life.

Gabriel isn’t terrible either. he wanted to trust his father, he’s still a teenager if people forgot. he’s been accustomed to his life and while Gideon is trying to help his brother, it’s hard to see what’s in front of you. so Will can go leave his home, right after his older sister dies, and be rude to everyone for years and it’s okay? Gabriel is way too villainized. reminds me of Alastair honestly. hating this man for basically breathing. oh, and remember that this fued started was because Will was rude to Tatiana (Gabriel’s sister) and Gabriel tried to protect her so he ended up punching Will. why and how does that get Gabriel on the villain list? I swear a Lightwood could breathe and CC would find a way to make them the “bad guy”.

the way Will treats Sophie and Charlotte and we’re supposed to accept it? I know maids were usually told to accept any abusive behavior but they shouldn’t. we don’t know what Will said or did to Sophie but Sophie literally straight up told Tessa, he’s a bad seed. do not trust this bitch. Sophie gets such disservice especially with Tessa trying to hop into her love life as if she has some right. YA DONT.

oh and making fun of Henry because he likes to create things? ITS NOT HENRYS FAULT IF HE IS TERRIBLE AT HIS CRAFT BUT AT LEAST HES FUCKING NICE TO PEOPLE. Henry didn’t do anything wrong. leave the fire hazard adorable man alone

the stuff all these characters do are not as bad as what Will does but he’s the main character and an ancestor of Jace so he gets away with toxic, abusive, and insulting behavior and it’s a okay. thank you Woosley Scott and Jem Carstairs for beating Will up. your service does not go unnoticed, I promise 🖤🖤🖤

another reason why I won’t accept jessa is because when Will makes a mockery of Jem and gets high, Tessa is mad for like five minutes and then she goes off on Will just to forgive him a second later. Tessa automatically goes to Will. if she had her pick, she would pick Will. “but she was going to marry Jem-” yeah because she thought he was dying. I don’t think she would ever pick Jem over Will. Tessa loves Will more than she ever loved Jem
