for me the only worse thing than a person talking about the friendzone seriously is someone who thinks talking about the friendzone is just ‘a joke’

like, i feel like these people see the brooding over rejection as something laughable, like, it’s not criticizing the person who says no, it’s humiliating the person that is being told ‘no’ because they’re losers or whatevs

i feel like both versions are harmful. like, it’s normal that people don’t like you/don’t see you in a romantic way. it’s ok if you’re told no. you just back off and leave them be. there’s no shame on it. 

i feel like seeing it both as a ‘joke’ and as a ‘serious’ issue has the same roots, idk
