Ever since she was small, she had a great fondness for animals. It was deep in her nature. From the time she first saw the birds bathing in rain puddles outside her cabin, to today, when she had witnesses a herd of deer carefully picking their way through her forest, she had always cared for and doted on these creatures.
It made no difference then, when she found a little dog wandering the woods one day. He was almost entirely covered in wrappings, some smudged with dirt from the journey.
Robin crouched low, picking through her pack until she found her jerky that was supposed to be her snack while on patrol. She held it out carefully to the pup and made a kissing sound to get his attention.
“Hey there, pup. Are you hungry?”
