The days are getting shorter, leaves are dropping from trees and it’s time to write something spooky! The rules are simple: pick as many items from the lists below as you want and write an Emmerdale fic.

Other than that there are no rules! Include whichever characters and ships you want. While the themes are inspired by horror, you can twist and interpret them how you like. Want to write a vampire romance? Go for it! Smut in an abandoned theme park? Why not? You just need to incorporate one or more of the themes below.

thanks for tagging me in seven sentence sunday @robrondale @nerdyfangirl76 @dreamer-of-ships @robertbugden @sugdenkatie - you inspired me to actually sit down and crank out seven sentences so thank you for the inspiration!

here’s a snippet from a fic that’s entirely inspired by a book i finished last weekend that i desperately want to write over the next wee while!

“Mate,” Adam, to his credit, sounded sympathetic, but there was something firm to his tone too - a sure sign he wasn’t going to let Aaron continue to wallow in his pit of self made misery and let this opportunity pass him by. “It’s a good opportunity, this.”

Aaron glared at his best mate slash agent from where he was curled on the couch. “To do damage control, you mean?”

Adam rolled his eyes. “Well, yes - in case you missed it, you had a dirty, torrid affair with one of the most famous directors in the world, who’s got a pregnant wife you claim not to have known about.”

Aaron wanted to scream. “He said they were getting divorced!” he replied pathetically, because he had. Ryan had promised Aaron faithfully that his marriage was over, no going back - and then suddenly, Hello! was running the announcement of his wife’s pregnancy alongside an exposé on his affair with Aaron Dingle. Not his proudest moment.

“The Gentle Season launched your career, Aaron,” Adam said, as if Aaron needed reminding of the movie that had kickstarted everything. “This plucky young kid pulled from Yorkshire to star in a queer regency era movie - it was the kind of rags to riches story that everyone loves.”

“Good thing I’m not fucking Cinderella, then,” Aaron huffed, wiping roughly at his face. “And I’m not doing another movie with Robert fucking Sugden. Not after what happened last time.”

this fic didn't exist an hour ago so I can't tell you where it's going actually.

“Your hands…” “Hm?” Shit. Robert's hands are still glowing, a bright yellow illuminating the dark alleyway. He wasn't expecting the bloke to wake up this early, was counting on whatever hit he took to keep him out cold until Robert was gone, or at least until the evidence of his power had died down. He quickly hides his hands behind his back, hopes the guy's concussed brain will accept it as it is and won't notice the obvious glow still casting a yellow halo against the brick wall behind him. “You're glowing.” “Oh, thank you. You know, face masks do wonders to your skin. And I just started using a new hair gel. Must be that. I could give you the brand name, if you want. Definitely seems like you could use it-”

The detective bristles, and even though his demeanour remains professional, his voice adopts a distinctly defensive tone in the face of Aaron's alpha posturing.

"Well, from what I recall of that time, Mr Sugden's sister was also under the impression that John was innocent—"

"Yeah but the difference is Vic isn't paid to know better—it isn't her job to find the truth," Aaron spits, feeling his heart rate increase with his mounting anger, anxiety and fear.

"Look at you lot," he scoffs as he continues, "even now when you know John framed Robert, and killed Nate, and he tried to kill me and Mack and god knows how many others—you're still not listening!"

DS Jordan sighs, loudly.

"Our intel suggests that Mr John Sugden has fled the country, we really have no reason to suspect he’s part of Robert Sugden’s disappearance. Why would he risk coming back now?"

Aaron feels like he’s caught in a loop—but he can’t give up, he can’t stop trying to make them see; “because,” he says, infuriated at having to do the police’s work for them while the love of his life is out there, in danger, pregnant and missing; “he's a psycho!"

Aaron blinks at him, as he lies there, on Robert's side, with his head propped up on his fist, watching Aaron expectantly.

"Paddy, what the fuck are you doing here?"

"How are you doing, mate?"

"That… is not relevant, Paddy, what are you doing here?"

Paddy sits up then, leaning back against the headboard and folding his hands in his lap. He's wearing his usual cargo trousers and plaid shirt, with his veterinary vest over top.

"There's a couple of things with that, actually," he says, still smiling. "I'm here because you needed me to be, and-"

"Did Robert ask you to come by?" Aaron asks, sitting up and rubbing at his eyes. "We, we had a fight but this is unnecessary."

Paddy tilts his head at this. "He didn't ask, but he is part of the reason," he says, as though that makes any sense at all, "and also, I'm not Paddy."
