Beau was, admittedly, not a huge fan of dogs. His mother had never let him have one growing up, claiming they were too much work and far too dirty to be in her home. He wasn't scared of them, so long as they weren’t mutant hounds or feral dogs, but still. He eyed the pooch cautiously. The last thing he needed was to have a dog that size attacking him.

"Hey uh...Hey buddy. You friendly?" He kept his voice low and as threat-lacking as possible, even going so far as to try and lower himself towards the ground. He remembered hearing the smaller you made yourself, the less scary you were to animals. Well, cats anyway. He didn't know if it worked for dogs, but he hoped it garnered trust and didn't instead give the dog the urge to leap at him.
