okay, so i know this could have been angsty and i know thats what you would have wanted but hear me out. puppymoney where theyre both stupid pieces of shit who think the other deserves better but love each other too much to really bother to push each other away.

It wasn’t so much the words as it was the drunken slur they were said in that made Slim laugh. He looked down at the other, halfway in the passenger seat and the rest slumped over the divider, his face pressed into his shirt.

“‘Someone better,’ huh?”

Cash muttered an agreement into his stomach, his arm wrapped around his spine. There was no way the position was comfortable, but Cash had a way of becoming boneless when he was particularly drunk, slumping over almost anywhere. Almost like a dumb cat, Slim thought, resting his hand on the back of Cash’s neck and gently scratching the cartilage there. Cash groaned, the sound stuttering off into a purr.

“It wouldn’t be hard,” he said, almost thoughtfully. The purring stopped and Cash turned his head, glaring up at him. Slim grinned back. “Didn’t say I would,” he continued. Cash turned his face back into his shirt with a sigh.

They both could go down that road, a back and forth of ‘find someone better’ until the words lost all meaning. But Slim didn’t want to. Maybe he deserved someone better. Maybe he didn’t. Either way, he didn’t give a shit.

He wanted Cash, and he was too selfish to deny himself that. Below him, the stuttering purr started back up as he thumbed the space between his cervical vertebrae. Slim, for once, kept his mouth shut, letting himself enjoy the sound.

1. Lol. Cash and Slim aren’t generally the type to send cutesy texts, but I can see Slim doing it to Cash to watch him get flustered. He’d only do it when they were in the same room, though, so he could see Cash’s face. Maybe Cash gets up during a movie to make popcorn— bam, Slim sends a text that reads, “thanks, cutie!” and a long string of heart and kissy emojis. His favorite is to do it when they’re with the other skeletons, though. Because Cash will turn a brilliant purple and get beautifully flustered when he does.

2. Aw, these boys.... Probably Twist. He likely wouldn’t mean to say it, but during a heated moment or when he’s just drunk enough, it would pop out. He’d be horrified at himself, but Slim and Cash would be quick to reassure him and say they felt the same. One of them has to break, and then the others will follow suit soon after.
