Is there any distinction between which ghosts are trapped in the house and which are free to go? I thought that you were trapped if your body was there, but Tate seems to be trapped there too and I highly doubt that his body is there if the police killed him? Am I just missing some big link here? :/

if you died on the property, you are stuck in the house and cant leave, your body doesnt necessarily have to be there, although a few of them are ( hayden, moira, violet) its kind of creepy when you think of it. the only ghost ive seen come or go from the house is the black dahlia, which is wierd that she can leave because according to the show she was killed in the house, maybe she cant leave and just chooses when to reveal herself...hmm thats unexplained. the other ghosts can only leave the house on halloween. hope that helps!
