Just out of purgatory, blood covered Dean makes me feel things.
So, I petition to bring back Purgatory!Dean and get rid of Cain!Dean. Purgatory was so much nicer to dean in my opinion.

Castiel was dead.
He felt the last of his strength ebb away, the darkness encroaching on his mind. Here, in purgatory, he would finally be laid to rest. No more running, no more fighting. No more constant worry, self-hatred, denial. It was finally over. He could be at peace.

The gravelly baritone echoed in the final, dimly-lit sections of his mind. Castiel struggled to think. It was like he was going offline, one area at a time.

Castiel felt something flicker inside him; a tiny, almost imperceptible pulse of power. That little bit of battery life right before the end. “Dean?” His voice was hoarse, made more difficult from the slash in his throat. Dean Winchester. Dean was still alive.
I want you to know that I'm comin' for you, Cas. I haven't forgotten you. Benny and I, we're still lookin' for you, dude. So... I dunno, if you can hear me, but you... you hold on, Cas... and if you can, give me the strength to carry on, too.
Light exploded through him like electricity - humming through his veins and banishing the darkness to the far corners of his mind. Castiel pushed himself up off the ground and crept up behind the creature that had gutted and filleted him. One swift, decisive blow to the head later and the monster was no more. The fallen angel stared out over the dark scrubland, but the voice in his head was silent once more. It didn't matter, though.
Dean was alive.
