Kiusaajien kiusaaja

Darwin on viihtyisä ja trooppinen. Rakastan näitä 30-asteen kesähelteitä, lämpimiä öitä ja keskustan kiireisiä katuja, joiden varsilla on terasseja ja kahviloita. Viikonloppuna pyörähdimme Mitchell Streetin Shennanigan's-baarissa juomassa halpoja kannullisia siideriä ja eilen kävimme Mindil Beach Sunset Marketilla, jossa oli kaikennäköisten kojujen lisäksi musiikkiesityksiä ja tulishow. Markkinat todellakin vetoavat minuun! Ilmaista nettiä olemme onnistuneet käyttämään territorion kirjastossa sekä Roma Bar -kahvilassa, josta saa maailman parhaita jääkahveja. Mmm.

Harmiksemme asumme 10 km päässä keskustasta ja (ilmaisen) parkkipaikan löytäminen täältä tuottaa hankaluuksia. Pojat yrittivät aamulla napata maksuttoman bussin caravanparkin lähistöltä Casinolle, mutta bussikuski totesi heidän olevan alipukeutuneita hihattomissa paidoissaan ja käännytti heidät bussin ovelta. En olisi uskonut, että kukaan voi koskaan olla alipukeutunut kulkemaan linja-autolla, vaikka se sitten olisikin nimenomaisesti Casinolle menevä bussi. Caravanpark sinällään menettelee ja on suht rauhallinen. Telttamme ovat palmujen alla ja öisin palmuissa kiipeilee kummituseläimiä. (Okei, kummituseläimiä ei ehkä ole kuin jossain Aasiassa, mutta "kummituseläin" on sanana tosi suloinen enkä ole osannut tarkemmin tunnistaa ko. eläintä. Ideoita?)

Auton myyminen ei ole oikein edistynyt. Stressitasoa ei todellakaan laske se, että kaikilla Australian puolitutuilla tuntuu olevan jonkinlainen mielipide asiasta. Olemme laittaneet ilmoituksen Gumtree-nettisivustolle ja jakaneet myynti-ilmoituksia eri hostellien ilmoitustauluille. Lähinnä yhteydenotot ovat olleet huijareilta, jotka lähettävät tekstiviestejä joidenkin viestipalveluiden kautta pyytäen ottamaan yhteyttä sähköpostitse. Vastaukset sähköposteihin ovat olleet seuraavanlaisia (viimeiselle vastailin ihan kiusallani kokeillakseni, miten pitkälle saan sen keskustelun vietyä):

I'm actually buying it for my old parents at home ( Tasmania ) But before i send it to them i have to make sure the Vehicle is in a good condition . I hope you understand my point that there is no way i come to inspect the car my self as have said earlier besides the Vehicle will be picked up and transported to Tasmania where my Parents stays, So whatever you tell me about the good and the bad aspect of the Vehicle is what i will believe and also inform the Pick-up agent that will be coming over to pick the Vehicle. Darwinin automarkkinat voisi siis lyhyesti tiivistää siten, että kaikki ostajat ovat merimiehiä/meri-insinöörejä/muuten vain tavoittamattomissa ja haluavat ostaa auton sitä näkemättä appiukolleen/pojalleen/vanhemmilleen, maksaa siitä netissä ja lähettää sen sitten Malesiaan/Tasmaniaan/minne lie jonkin pätevän välitysfirman avulla. Että näin... Huomenna ensimmäinen oikea potentiaalinen ostaja tahtoo jopa nähdä Purkin! Kyseessä on niin huonosti englantia puhuva saksalainen, että jouduimme käyttämään Chrisiä tulkkina.
